Holy Cross ties it on a Bobby Young goal with two minutes left in the third. Heading to OT, 2-2

Lost a bit of heart breaker in OT. Goal disallowed, bs penalty call on HC when UNH scored their 2nd goal. I watched some of the second and most of the 3rd plus the OT session. They were competitive and belonged in this game. Not a vintage UNH team, but they have beaten Harvard (with 10 draft picks) and UMass. Progress . . .

Nothing wrong with hanging with a Hockey East team on their home ice. As someone said this is not a vintage UNH team but we do have some decent wins over Providence, Umass, and last night over number 10 Harvard. Hanging with a Hockey East team no matter what their record is should be look at in a favorable light. Best of luck the rest of the way and in the Atlantic Hockey League season.

Wish UNH the best going forward. They have traditionally been a great program, and I hope they return to that level. Have some nice wins this season and seem poised to return to their high level of play. Good luck tomorrow against Oregon State!

We've seen a huge change in the hockey program from the time that admissions began to hold the hockey players to the same standards as all of the other sports programs at UNH since than the results have not been what they once were. Hopefully Souza is figuring out which players he can get admitted to UNH and beginning to bring the program back to where it once was.

I just hope it's someone from a good academic school that will understand how UNH works.

It’s not like UNH has rigorous standards like your neighbors down the road in Hanover.

I agree we are not an Ivy League school which are the finest institutions in the US along with our service academies. We do hold the student-athletes to the same standards as a regular student which puts us at the top of league in AE in terms of difficulty in getting student-athletes admitted. I'm thinking those standards are one of the reasons that the PL offered us full memberships some time ago.

That's not competitive or very good. In the AE, here are where other schools stand: Maine: 92% Hartford: 77% UMass Lowell: 75% UVM: 71% UMBC: 69% NJIT: 66% Albany: 57% Stony Brook: 49% Binghamton: 43% Coaches at UNH have an easier time getting athletes admitted than other coaches in the AE do at their respective schools.

I can tell you that is 100% not true. You can talk to any head coach in the AE and they will tell or any head coach at UNH they will tell you UNH is the most difficult conference member to get student-athletes admitted into. I talk to these coaches often, I know the stories of high school kids that were valedictorians of their class and admissions not wanting to admit them because they felt like they didn't have the correct academic transcript.

So is UNH's 85% admittance false? Please help me understand.

So is UNH's 85% admittance false? Please help me understand. His statements about the UNH admission standards being weird for student athletes is true....There is something crazy that goes on with Student Athletes that should be admitted not allowed in. That goes back 20 plus years at least. I believe it has to do with admissions wanting to keep the graduation rate high with student athletes unhwildcats.com/news/2019/10/17/academics-unh-earns-high-ncaa-graduate-success-rate-scores.aspx

Why is someone from HC getting into a pi$$ing match with UNH alums about admissions? We have our issues, they have theirs. I'm sure everyone is being as honest as their knowledge allows.

I had my HC knit cap and that was one of the warmest parts of my body. Thought I might get frostbite on my toes though. My boots were on ice the entire time. Brrrr!

Last two results have been pretty good. Perhaps the team is starting to turn a corner as we head into more conference play soon.

You are so right '70 Criticizing UNH is pathetic. They are an excellent University and a great opponent for us in all sports. Want to criticize and you are a Holy Cross alumnus, parent, student? Buy a mirror.

Maybe it was Shakespeare who said that "comparisons are odious." UNH is a fine school. I may be biased because one of my brothers went there and had a wonderful experience.
