1. I love Bob Chesney and everything he has done to bring HC football back.
2. The number of penalties we take is astoundingly bad and needs to be corrected going forward. The stats are below. We rank 104 of 123 in fewest penalty yards per game. Our average over our last 5 games would put us third worst in the country.
UConn 8-85 Merrimack 3-37 Yale 9-85 Monmouth 2-10 Harvard 6-55 Georgetown 8-80 Colgate 3-25 Lehigh 11-78 Lafayette 7-55 Fordham 7-69 Bucknell 10-120 Sacred Heart 9-66
Total: 83-765 Avg 6.9-63.8
Last 5 games: 44-388 Last 5 games avg: 8.8-77.6

All penalties are not bad e.g. SHU jump off side at least 3 times in the 2nd half; the first was a 'free play' that was open for a big play but we didn't connect; the next 2 were blown dead because there was contact that resulted in 5 yrd penalties at mid field i.e. no free big play opportunity...
coaching? if you jump off side don't hesitate keep going to stop a bigger play
There seemed to be something going on with the snap count. SHU seemed to be prepared for what we like to do at the OL.

I agree with both hc6774 and HC92. 9 penalties a game over the past 5 is just really poor and shows a lack of focus. I won't say discipline because i think the team does a job of staying away from late hits, unsportsmanlike penalties which to me is a lack of discipline. Against good teams this will kill HC.
To hc6774's point - not every penalty is a bad one - taking a 15 yard PI to prevent a touchdown, etc.

Because we shuttle O-linemen in and out with such frequency, it's hard to keep track but thought I remember the announcers saying that due to injuries, we had a number of OL who were not regulars and/or playing out of position. I believe we had 6 false starts/illegal procedures and at least 2 were on #71 and 2 on #73 with one on #60. That would be respectively, Luke Newman (sophomore); Declan McCauley (sophomore) and Jack McCauley (senior). Since we don't have access to the 2 deep anymore (not me anyway), I went back to the UConn game and Luke was listed as #1 LT, Declan was listed as #2 RT and Jack was listed as the #2 Center behind Nick Olsofka who I know has been out for awhile and the rest of the season.
