Well, HC is clearly not alone. Some of those teams may soon be boosted when they play HC. A few weeks back I would have though that HC might be the team to benefit, but now...

If a rising tide lifts all ships, as HC, Bucknell, Lehigh, and even American to a degree once did, what happens when the ships start to sink? Is there a saying for that? "Nobody comes out of the toilet clean?"

...then why do some deliberately splash "toilet water" on themselves to smell better?

AU's definitely playing terrible right now. The only-and I mean only-thing I'm hanging my hat on right now is that we're playing so many freshmen-de facto, if not de jure. For example, our starting point guard played exactly seven games last year, in his freshman "season." He's played seven games this season. That's 14 Division 1 games. On Earth II, you'd say that person was still a freshman, but in NCAAWorld, he's a sophomore. Same for our current starting center (10 games as a "freshman" last "season," 17 games total), and our current starting four (15 total D1 games after last night). Then, we're playing two more ACTUAL freshmen big minutes, along with two transfers. Starting and backup centers from last season (two seniors) have been out most of the year so far with injuries, along with our starting three (a junior) from last season. The starting four from last season (another senior) has been banged up with ankle and back issues. So, no continuity, no defense, no free throws. We do stink right now. I can only hope some of the kids grow up fast, and that our upperclassmen can get healthy.

We complain a lot around here, but if I was an AU fan I'd have just about had it with Mike Brennan. Save for that first season where he won with Jeff Jones' guys, he's been somewhere in between average and bad.
NJJ, surely his seat is warm, right?

Maybe we should consider a coach swap with AU?

If you take a close look at the other disappointing PL records you will see that they have all played much better than HC vs D.1 competition - we are clearly the worst team in the league at this point - it's not close

We recruit fine, but it just isn't showing up enough on game days/nights. Also, I know y'all follow OKC because of Coach Daigneault. His Thunder lost tonight to the Memphis Grizzlies... 152-79. It was the largest margin of defeat in NBA history.

This afternoon I am attending the Bucknell/Hofstra game. Hofstra has a very strong team this year (made up of primarily transfers) and is a 13 point favorite.
I think Bucknell will struggle to stay within the spread. But we will see.
I'll report back later today with how Bucknell looked and how they might stack up against the Crusaders.

If you hate HC in the Patriot League, I hope you’re not watching the providence game.
