Hoping that all of our alumni in Kentucky are safe after tornadoes do a number on the state. Especially our esteemed fellow poster from the class of '75 and his family

Hoping that all of our alumni in Kentucky are safe after tornadoes do a number on the state. Especially our esteemed fellow poster from the class of '75 and his family Thanks, Tom-- we had heavy rain and thunder in Louisville, but no tornadoes. This was worst hit in Kentucky history per news reports with the tornadoes running a path 227 miles long. The city of Mayfield , 230 miles southwest of Louisville, was devastated--dozens killed and mass property destruction

Gov. Beshear/state of Kentucky has a fund set up and I have made a donation there. Here's the link: secure.kentucky.gov/formservices/Finance/WKYReliefJose Andres does great things but I figured his focus is on meals and, while important, I'd rather give to the locals who know where the money best needs to be spent.

We will have a special collection in all parishes in the Louisville Archfiocese this coming weekend and I’ll guess that other dioceses in Kentucky will do so as well.
I believe Mayfield and Bowling Green, two of the hardest hit cities, are in the Owensboro Diocese

I am impressed with the state's willingness to take responsiblity for raising money for relief. As we know, too often there are scammers involved. As to Andres, I would note that one of the great things WCK has done is pay local restaurants to feed people during the pandemic thereby helping them keep the lights on and their employees working. wck.org/news/135-million-rftp I am not sure if they do that at disasters given the speed necessary to bring relief although I do know they work with locals. Norah O'Donnell was on the ground in Kentucky last night on the CBS Evening News. The destruction she showed was horrifying.

Yes, while I know some here distrust anything a government might do, I happen to trust a state government to do the right thing for their people as if nothing else, they are responsible to the voters. Andreas is a hero in my book. And he uses his fame for all the right reasons.
If there is an earthquake, hurricane or in this case a tornado(es) he and his people can be counted on to help.
Prayers for the victims in Kentucky and all the other states to this tragedy,
