Not keeping a running tally (like Ralph with his deflection count), my impression was that while there were still some lazy passes, that there were a lot fewer than in the beginning of the season. That's the good news. The bad news was the shooting pretty much consistently stinks as a team. Sure, Dorsey may hit 3 3s in a game but then will miss the next 8 or 9. Martindale was going to be one of our long range gunners and he has become consistently inconsistent and, his defense?
Gates works hard all the time. Luc makes some spectacular plays and very good free throw shooter but he's not someone to be your #1 pg. Louth has promise and Caleb can be very good with the right coaching.
We need a change in leadership and I don't mean AD or president - we already have those.
Well with 9 regular season wins, I hit it on the head, but n ext year has to be better. The most frustrating thing is seeing the team get an open shot...and blow it. Then later, when trying to again dig out of a hole, they hit some of those same shots.
My takeaways: 1. Having Gates return is a huge plus! 2. We have talent here and the healthy return of RJJ will be a big part of potential success next season. 3. As. many have posted, we do need consistency but these same players can show that by next season. 4. We also need our two bigs, LC and AL to continue their development (physically and in their play). 5. Cut down (as in STOP) lazy passes that lead to turnovers, learn how to. beat a press and develop outside shooting against zones.
Sounds easy. HC could at least double their 9 regular season wins and move up from there by 2022-23.
The lazy passes in game 30 are maddening. You should get yanked immediately if you are still committing cardinal sins at this stage of the season. Maybe that will cure your propensity to make that type of pass. I think a .500 season next year is the ceiling for this group, maybe a few games over if RJJ returns to form.
I did see some of that in the last few weeks, but it's tough when the bench is so short
