Nice! Will be good to start the season off with a big W.

Will be a 'miracle' to start the season off with a W Have you seen some of the P5 football powers playing mid-fcs teams ? - that's what this is
But as long as our coach is ok with it, it's fine to get the experience (for the 2nd year in a row)

For other PL teams, this sort of matchup is not at all like football. For example, Syracuse has lost two of its last three openers to PL teams (Army and Colgate) - both by multiple goals. And PL teams win a number of games every year vs ranked P5 conference teams. In fact, PL teams have knocked off the nation's #1 team on a couple of occasions, including Bucknell beating #1 Maryland.

They went 7-6 last season and in 2019 went 9-5. They have not been to the Final Four since 2013 which led to Gait moving from the Women's Coach to the Men's Head Coach this season.

It’s good we try to schedule up in the OOC and we play in a conference where we should be able to get good enough to have a reasonable chance to win them.

In sleuthing around other sites, I now see that the 'Cuse is week 2 and Michigan is week 3 - we'll open the season on Feb 5 at home vs. Providence With the season 4 1/2 weeks away, when does the team return to campus ?

Don't know about LAX but one of the football players says he returns to campus 1/24, presumably for classes.
P.S. Winter Homecoming is scheduled for 1/22/2022 and classes don't start until 1/25. Understanding that "Homecoming" is for the alums to "come home," I always thought the students were there too. Of course, COVID could torpedo all of this as the predictions for Omicron abatement is in February sometime.

Got to think scrimmages are going to be held on Jan 22nd and 29th so you would think practice starts Jan 10th or 17th.

Looks like HC hosts Merrimack on 2/26 (According to inside lacrosse website).
In addition to PC, Cuse, UMich, and Merrimack, I expect we’ll play Harvard at home in a midweek contest and maybe Brown or Dartmouth midweek.
First PL matchup is 3/6 at Army.

Harvard and Brown have posted their schedules on their websites. HC is not on either. It’s a shame if the Harvard series is coming to an end.
Other midweek possibilities in NE that do not appear to have released full schedules yet: UMass Lowell, UMass, Fairfield, Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac, Yale, Dartmouth. Not all of those are easy midweek trips.

With Covid and sometimes weather playing havoc with scheduling and Brown and Harvard only an hour away, perhaps there will be an opportunity to play either one if either and HC find themselves healthy but without opponent for a week or so.

That is what happens when you get a new head coach like the Crimson have. Holy Cross is NOT on the UMass-Amherst schedule. Holy Cross has NOT played the Minutemen since 1999. umassathletics.com/sports/mens-lacrosse/scheduleDartmouth is not scheduled to play HC either. dartmouthsports.com/sports/mens-lacrosse/scheduleUMass-Lowell hosts HC on April 20th. goriverhawks.com/sports/mens-lacrosse/schedule

Would like to play any of these fine Institutions but might as well play the ones who want to play us and beat them.

Would like to play any of these fine Institutions but might as well play the ones who want to play us and beat them. Well, UMass is 14-3-1 all-time against HC and the Crusaders haven't beaten them since 1965. Seems like the dumpster fire HC Lacrosse was in the 1990's resulted in them getting dropped.

Good thing there is a fire station adjacent to the Holy Cross campus. There are a ton of dumpster fires reported on Crossports.

HC has been a different team recently (compared to the 1990s). And I expect that they will improve under Reppert (of course that remains to be seen).
Looking at Harvard and Army as common opponents sheds some light and suggests HC and UMass have been at about the same level over the last several seasons and games btw them would likely have been competitive.
2020 was the last time all 3 teams played each other:
2020 Harvard beat UMass by 1 and HC beat Harvard by 1. 2019 HC beat Harvard by 1 and UMass beat Harvard by 3. 2018 HC beat Harvard by 1 and Harvard beat UMass by 5. 2017 Harvard beat HC by 3 and beat UMass by 4.
2020 Army beat UMass 17-4 and HC 12-5 2019 Army beat UMass 12-11 and HC 7-6 2018 Army beat UMass 18-6 and HC 5-3 2017 Army beat UMass 9-2 and HC 10-4.
This is a game that makes sense for HC, especially as a midweek contest against a quality opponent. Hopefully Reppert can get them on the schedule in the future.

And that 2018 UMass team made the NCAA Tournament. Army tends to be UMass opening game and Army's results early in the season have been VERY odd like beating Syracuse 18-11 last year. They tend to get worse as the season goes on. Holy Cross in 2019 also got crushed by Army 14-5 in the Patriot League tournament. Army made the tournament that year as the PL champion.

I'm making a mental note that if I am ever in an argument with another Crusader and need something negative to research about Holy Cross that going to Foley for that assignment is like going to your money man.
