Thanks for posting, rf1. Between the little CWC said at Coaches Night and observations at the exhibition game against Assumption, there is a consistency of message here:
1. Entering the season with more confidence and higher expectations 2. Upper classmen understanding Carmody's system instead of learning from scratch 3. Need for seniors to lead . . . and they know their roles 4. Need for sophs to step up (Benzan very improved, JF still foul-prone, Charles expected to be a rising star) 5. LeSann most improved freshman and getting more floor time to prove it
Based on CWC's performance at Assumption game, I believe his expectations are a lot higher this year and he will be more "demonstrative" with his players.
Didn't wnat to start a new thread for this blurb from Phil Kasiecki at Hoopville.com in today's "Morning Dish."
Lehigh’s Patriot League opponents will take some comfort knowing this is the final year they’ll have to deal with Tim Kempton, the two-time player of the year. They’ve still got one more year of the supremely skilled big man, though, and the Mountain Hawks are the favorite in the league with Kempton joined by a solid supporting cast that includes all-conference performer Kahron Ross. Bucknell will be there, as usual, Boston University is a sleeper, and Holy Cross will look to prove it’s the team that blew through the Patriot tourney as a 9 seed winning four games on the road to make the NCAAs, not the club that went 10-19 in the regular season and 5-13 in league play.
what is the prognosis for Charles? How long is he out for?
Here's what DiMarz reported after attending the exhibition game versus Assumption:
"A few thoughts from last night.
..HC played a 2-3 all night. They did run a few gadgets. One sequence had PB on the baseline, rotating up to the wing , turning it to a 3-2. and then he followed an Assumption player thru the lane to the opposite baseline corner..I have no idea what CBC has them doing...
..Champion really stepped up his game, he looks like he is poised to take over the team. ..Rebounding is very low on CBC's agenda...Make shots is his mantra. ..Assumption got a number of offensive rebounds on air balls, when 2 defenders attacked the shooter. ..HC turned over Assumption frequently, and did not turn the ball over much. That is a winning combo. ..PB and JF both brought a lot of energy to the floor. JF could be a force in the low post. He made a few good moves for hoops and played with confidence, as did PB..
..KC was shooting and making 3's in the pre-game warm-up. Looks like he will be ready for SC...
..Clayton LeSann looks like he can give the team some minutes. He is very thin.. ..The Hart Center looks great! I really like the way the lanes are stained a rich brown. NO PAINT! They look like an executives desk top! The lobby area and the upstairs areas are very nice. Quite a different feel to the old barn! ..No banners hanging from the walls or rafters yet. Sunday December 11th is banner raising day!!! "
