Massey gives this toss-up to Holy Cross at home by one point (71-70). He gives HC a 52% chance for the win. This seems to be due to home court for HC. The Pards are ranked at #329 by him (HC is ranked #349). The Pards are currently 3-8 with wins over Rutgers (A), Columbia (A) and Gwynedd-Mercy (H).

Perhaps I should list their losses: at Syracuse (by 34) Cornell (by 5) at Penn (by 28) at Duke (by 35) Sacred Heart (by 7) NJIT 2 ots (by 4) at Delaware (by 10) Princeton (by 11) any clearer?

Lafayette is 3-0 when opponents have effective FG % under 35% and 0-8 when it is 47% or better. There have been no games in theat middle range, HC has no games as bad as 35% --hard to believe as we have such a woeful record on twos. In 7 of 14 games HC has done better than that 47% number. Lafayette is 3-1 when its free throw rate is 23.9% or better. HC's opponents have had 23.9% or better in 7 of 14 games. Of course we are only talking about a couple of aspects of the game, but those are the measures that stood out in Laf's wins. While HC has had trouble with turnovers all season, and made me look like a broken record as I mentioned that on the boards as TO's mounted each game, Lafayette does not force a lot of turnovers. Perhaps we can hold ours to 10 or fewer?? Lafayette lives and dies by the three, and I think you could say that in many of its seasons, taking 49% of FG attempts from beyond the arc, #12 in D-1. They are #160 in team 3 point percentage. The four most frequent launchers-Jenkins, O'Boyle, Perry, and Brantley--all are shooting .355 to .365 and thankfully Jaworski has graduated. Laf is 0-5 when shooting under 30% on threes; HC has held opponents under 30% in 5 games.
I think we have a chance to win if we play our best game of the D-1 season.

A sad commentary on the Crusader program when they have to play their best game of the D1 season to have a chance to beat Lafayette . . . . . Lafayette?!!

Do we even know if Laffy bus got to Worcester. Not Covid but weather. Just finished snow throwing about 5” +/- off my driveway but peak supposed to be 11:00 am until Noon when it should be almost stopped. (My “eyewitness weather” report from RI). 😂🌨❄️⛄️

Just finished shoveling 6" here in North Jersey. That was plenty with a bad back. I hope all travelers stay safe today (and some of them lose to HC tonight).

I hope our guys don’t get overconfident with those odds! 😳 Guess you're not a gambler- HC +3 means Laf is favored by 3, not HC.

1. Indeed I am NOT a gambler 2. I know that +3 means HC the underdog 3. My reading comprehension was skewed because; A) I just got in from cleaning my driveway and B) My brain registered that people thought we were favored in the game
Also, even being “just” a 3 point underdog might get our guys overconfident.😉

Then again, it may have started snowing in Easton considerably earlier than it did in The Woo.

Will be very interested in seeing what happens in the last 10 minutes of this game, particularly if LC should hit a couple of baskets in a row. Looking for someone to say "enough of this sh*t!" with his play should this happen.

Same here, Dave. We really haven't been in contention in any games this year in the final two minutes, so hard to say who our "go-to" guy would be down the stretch.
This team doesn't have a guy who has emerged as an on-the-court leader, yet.

I'd anticipate a tough night on the boards with Lafayette's Neal Quinn coming into town. A legit 7 footer averaging 12 pts / 8 rbs / 4 assists per game. Going to need big performances from Louth & Rabs

Going to need big performances from Louth & Rabs For sure-if stats are indicative he is a formidable opponent. Per 40 minutes: 18 points, 12 rebounds,, and 6 assists to 3 turnovers. He is not foul prone with just 2.8 per 40 minutes

I have watched Lafayette play several times and Quinn, who is not a great athlete, IMO will give HC fits. He has long arms and a very nice touch around the basket. If you foul him he shoots 76% from the line.
The second key to this game is Lafayette's ability to hit their threes. They take 30 of them a game, 18 of them from a combination of Perry, Jenkins and O'Boyle.
Not concerned though. I'm sure Coach Nelson will devise a defense that will shut them down.
