Football scoop has two open positions at HC. 1 Offensive skill; 1 Defensive skill
I believe it’s DeAndrade and not sure on O but could be Roper

Boy, I'd really hate to lose Roper but he's no doubt destined for bigger assignments....

Good for HC to be seen as a spot that creates opportunities for assistant coaches.

SoV is right on both accounts.

Wondering if these departures are $$$ related, increased responsibilities, or both?

Wondering if these departures are $$$ related, increased responsibilities, or both? My guess would be DeAndrade is both and Roper is money.

We should not lose coaches to another 1AA school over money
Better opportunities sure, but not $$

Furman’s previous OC is now the head coach at ETSU. Bigger and better conference helps getting to the next level.

Furman’s previous OC is now the head coach at OC. Bigger and better conference helps getting to the next level. Former Furman OC moved to head coach at ETSU which is in the same (SoCon) conference.

Yes. Casey is a good recruiter and was in on a few guys in TX.

With Roper’s departure, do you think Chris Smith would take over as the OC?

Casey is going back to his old team to help the new coach out. Not money related. Roper is from Georgia and the job at Furman (South Carolina) gets him closer to his roots. Not money related.

Do we know they’re not getting more money? Two things can both be true. Going closer to home or to alma mater and making more money.

If we heard Chesney was extended with a sizable increase- close to doubled, one would think Chesney made his assistants whole

It has been written on this board many, many times that HC football assistants pay is less than average at best. Until this is fixed it will always be a factor in coaches leaving.
