We are just a terrible shooting team overall....just put it on.... Totally. We had some many opportunities but just miss. Also no plays run. Each player goes 1 on 2 or 3. They double teamed every time. Finally no sense pressing if you don’t occasionally double on the in bounds pass.

When the other team is purposely avoiding fouling we really look good taking it to the hoop.

Dorsey makes a free throw for Gates. He has scored 5 points in 95 minutes of play......

Hope GG did not aggravate a previous injury when he was fouled with 6 seconds left

I hope Gates is OK, and it's not an oblique injury...On the positive note, not many turnovers...

I cannot really bear to watch. This is just terrible basketball - how could a program get this awful. Frankly, I am at a point where it does not matter if we win or lose. Just embarrassing But we have a great basketball history. Problem is little of the greatness has happened since 1980. Very sad.

Well, hitting about 75% is not awful, but I see why they do not shoot more 3s. Also, only 5 turnovers was better...but why not just let us shot threes - they end up being a turnover when the opponent is gettin g so many def rebounds.

My optimism is dissipating .......
Tonight only G, Kyrell and Bubba contributed.
The rest of the team seriously needs to spend this week, in the Blaney gym, and the Hart Arena until they can consistently hit mid range baskets. When they return to campus tonight, bring out the sleeping bags and camp in the Hart Center until their shots fall. Time for a captains meeting.
Tonight was depressing in regard to player development and their skill and basketball IQ.

A pathetic showing against a bad team that going into the game looked almost as bad as us. The game showed we are considerably worse.
Martindale 0 points on 0 for 7 shooting and his misses for the most part weren't even close. Dorsey 1 point thanks to the FT allowed when Gates went out. He's afraid to shoot - with good reason. Bo had an off night, 2 points on 1 for 8 shooting and 0 for 2 from the FT line for icing on the cake. Gates 21 points on 7 for 17 shooting and 7 for 8 from the line. Townsel should have gotten more time. 9 points on 3 for 3 shooting Humphrey glimmer of hope with 5 for 5 from the line and 15 points.
Rabs 0 points and Kenney also 0 points. They don't help on offense.
Season can't conclude soon enough.

I keep hearing from Nelson about the inexperience of the team.
Does that explain why we are such poor shooters? They've been shooting hoops since grammar school. At this point you are either a good shooter or you are not.
What Nelson has put together here is the lethal combination of a very short team that does not as a group shoot the ball very well.
Without naming names there are at least 4 players on this team who when they shoot anything other than an uncontested layup you cringe.
Going to be a very long and depressing season I am afraid.

Martindale 1/15 on threes in last three games. 6/13 on twos in those games He did have a hand injury earlier in the year. Not sure if it’s still bothering him.

Malcolm is 20 for 30 on his twos this year-- Now 25-36 on twos, 4-9 on threes, 71% from the line, is a pretty good defender, and busts his tail every possession.
Matched his season high with 26 minutes tonight - would like to see him get that every game.

BU beats AU by 26. 79-53 Coach Brennan was missing from the bench Six players and two coaches out or in protocols. Again, I have no idea why we've played the last two games, with half a team.

Looking forward ........... there are .... 235 days until kickoff against Merrimack on September 3, 2022.
If it wasn’t for summer at the beach, and seeing the grandkids, I would contemplate hibernation until then. A nap 😴 is needed to forget tonight’s debacle. Unfortunately it may play out with a nightmare of endless missed mid range shots.

And the tendency is to shoot contested shots in close instead of the team moving and cutting so there is someone with a less contested shot a pass away. A typical contested shot underneath goes up one side of the glass and down the other into the arms of a defender without ever touching the rim.

Looking forward to hearing Nelson’s comments on tonight’s game in the postgame interview. I just checked the website. Nothing yet. They are still working on the questions for Coach to answer.

Louth should be in until he is exhausted or fouls out One of the only players who is getting better or adjusting we have 2/3 others getting better as well but no idea why Lewis isn’t getting minutes

Many freshmen, especially big, thin players, just are not ready for college hoops. I presume that Lewis is one of those many players. There are many far more troubling issues than Lewis’ playing time.
