Maybe, I'm confused. Is Gerry a season ticket holder? His problem seems to be that single game ticket holders are excluded. I have a solution. As a true fan of HC b-ball. Buy a season pass. I gather he has no problem adhering to the science. As a season pass holder simply follow the protocols. Vaccination. Negative covid test. Masks & distancing as is appropriate. Buy a season pass & welcome back to the Hart. And, there is always next year, hopefully. We all want more of our Wustah base at HC games. Many would appreciate your continued support. Sounds more like a Worcester area guy that goes to a decent amount of games every year, though not everyone so he doesn't get the season ticket. HC hoops needs the Gerrys of the world without forcing season tickets on them I think part of the issue is the constant changes. Hart had policy updates on 1/4, 1/6, and 1/14. I know the situation is fluid, but constantly changing rules gets confusing and frustrating. Throw in a little inconsistency and it adds to the frustration. We can pack the Boston Garden for a game , but Hart can't be at 25 percent capacity. Gerry is considering adopting the Lowell Riverhawks. They don't require proof of vaccination. Also as renamed poster "spectator policy" pointed out in another thread, the poor play has kept fans out in numbers that HC was offering single game tickets for two or three dollars. Not much incentive to buy season tickets with that policy. For many years, the Gerrys of the world were the backbone of the fanbase, I'd rather court other Gerrys in Worcester County than tell the ones we have get a season ticket or get out

Yeah, that's not the protocol though. So long as one is vaccinated and boosted, he or she can attend a game even if they are COVID positive. Conversely, an unvaccinated person who does not have COVID cannot attend. Great policy. That's not quite how it works They do not want vaccinated, positive people at Hart You are correct that they are not doing COVID tests at the door. It is possible that I have COVID and am contagious. I have no symptoms and have had no contacts with a positive person, so I am not planning on getting tested for Saturday's game. Still, I might have it, but I'm not going crazy with testing without some cause.. Could some vaccinated person unknowingly be positive and go to Hart? Yes. Is the goal of the policy that knowingly positive people who are vaccinated are welcome into Hart? I don't think so

I didn't realize that HC was allowing vaccinated covid positive spectators. I did no read these words in the guidelines. I did read "Negative Covid-19 will not be sufficient for entry." Guess I'm missing something. Here are the stipulations to watch HC basketball -- 1) Must be a season ticket holder 2) Proof of vaccination and a booster shot must be shown upon entry to the venue. The vaccine card must show two dates for Moderna, Pfizer or AstraZeneca and one date for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine 3) Proof of booster shot 4) Wear surgical masks (or better) 5) No outside food and only one (not two) water bottle. Masks may be lowered only while actively drinking (not passively). So long as one does all the above, he or she can have COVID and still watch HC basketball. What an absolute farce.

/\SoV -I think some folks have a very very hard time with the notion that vaccinated folks routinely catch and spread Covid. I have a colleague who claimed that if that were true it would mean vaccine mandates (aimed at stopping the spread of Covid and saving grandpa) were/are foolish. I broke it to him gently. (Of course he and I and all of our [vaccinated] colleagues have since tested positive.)

In the meantime AAU is alive and well in MA, in most places with at least a “mask optional” mandate, in some mask mandatory. People are pouring in and out of facilities all weekend long, breathing, yelling, sweating etc. haven’t heard of any problems. They’re packing them in at Duke and other schools. Maybe they just want to shut off this train wreck of a season from public view in general. I can understand that, and can understand people who come to that conclusion considering the coach does not commssunicate with the fans. The whole management is baffling to me. There are few remaining fans of HC hoops; for all practical purposes there are none under 70-75. HC will need to basically create an entirely new program and identify or get lucky and hire the right guy like they did in football. They might have bungled even that chip shot if the guy wasn’t right under their noses. I agree with just about everything you said except for the part about not hearing about problems. How would one know if there were infections from a large gathering? It's not a 150-200 person wedding where 25-50 people have Covid within a week and that is all over the news. The case numbers are so staggering right now it's not like you can pinpoint attendance at a Duke basketball game as the reason for an uptick in numbers in Durham, NC. I have little doubt that there are cases resulting from packed crowds at indoor gatherings but contract tracing seems to be on the back burner. I think one case is too many to risk attending a hoop game right now and I put my money where my mouth is literally, by letting two season tickets go unused this winter. I don't want either my wife or I ending up in a hospital in the current climate. Going to a basketball game right now isn't worth it. If someone wants to attend an indoor sporting event with packed crowds, then have at it but I think one should think hard first about the possible consequences of that choice.

HC is not giving people the choice. Many parts of the country are not giving people the choice. They have to take their meds, but they also cannot take any risks. They have to keep taking the risks for medicine no matter how tiny, but are not being allowed to take similarly small risks with their activities. And the results we're seeing in the inconsistent application of those policies is that the numbers are skyrocketing anyway. If the benefits of the shots would be:
A) Few to no people being infected B) Few to no people dying C) Most if not all people being able to go without face coverings, social distancing, business closures, school closures, travel restrictions
then everyone would get the shot. You can't demonstrate the widespread, undoubted, meaningfully-long-term benefits, because there haven't BEEN any.

It's not stated, but they're not looking. They're making the assumption via their policy that a vaccinated person will make them COVID IMMUNE BULLETPROOF 5000 (that's a new CDC definition). Reality is showing that isn't the case. The vaccine has stopped, seemingly, zero people from actually contracting COVID. So the policy has made it more about the shot, and less about actual safety. If you cannot walk into the place with proof that you do not have COVID, then it's not about COVID, is it? If you have a piece of paper that says, "I probably am not carrying a gun, but there's no guarantee, and I can still likely shoot other people, but maybe they won't be too seriously wounded, but it's possible they could!" then HC is going to let you in even if you're strapped with gats as we say in the 'hood. Meanwhile, people who are willing to walk through the metal detectors and take their shoes off are being told to stay outside for safety. ::Deep breath:: ......... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Between "game of manhunt" and "strapped with gats" you guys could do fifteen minutes at halftime to keep THE spectator entertained.😂

If folks had stayed away from the novel and faux argument for getting vaccinated (herd immunity, save grandpa, help the community) and focused on vulnerable folks getting vaccinated for their own sake we would have been much better off. And there were voices arguing for the proper response. Of course, Covid-alarmism would have been forestalled😉.

How many vaccinated people are dying from Covid? Are we at B? I know the answer isn't zero. My fully vaccinated neighbor died after being hospitalized with COVID, There's at least one (I will give him an asterisk because he was 98 years old). I honestly do not know the number. I am curious what that number is and does it fall into the "few" category. Still, I think there are lots of people who would not get the shot if B were true on the theory they aren't going to die even with it

I am in my mid 40's. Been going to Holy Cross sports since the mid 80's with my dad. Saw the incredible Duffner era football, but too young for the Ronnie Perry hoop era. My dad passed nearly a decade ago, but my love for Holy Cross sports continued afterward. I went to the Regis and Siena games this year with my son, and generally attend 6-7 games a year. I will not attend any further games. I don't like the losing, but still enjoy rooting the team on, and would never let that deter us from attending. I am done with the Holy Cross hoop and hockey "experience." The fact that a school that has been so incompetent on the hardwood and ice would alienate some of the final handful of fans with this ridiculous "policy" for "public health" is enough to burn my bridge forever. I have found a new local team to spend my money on 30 minutes up the road in Lowell. Little better team, friendly Gameday staff, and an institution "smart" enough to understand that this is not the plague, vaccines, masks, and other measures are here, and the virus is getting weaker, despite the ridiculous panic induced by the media and "experts" like the elderly Holy Cross alum who has been consistently wrong. Life needs to move on. Definitely gonna miss going to the Hart Center, but there are many other college teams around to support, and I will do just that. I hope to go to Fitton this fall, but if these cockamamie policies continue in the fall, we will gladly become fans of URI, Bryant, or Merrimack going forward The Tsongas Center is a better place to watch hoops (when they play there) and hockey.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think it's similarly easy to roll one's eyes at a Glenn Beck as an example. He has not been vaccinated but has been infected twice. The first time he had a rough go but didn't get vaccinated afterwards because he had natural immunity. Now he is pumping Invermectin and hydroxy chloroquine into his body which must be heavier duty, more disruptive meds that aren't approved for Covid and haven't been taken several billion times worldwide like the vaccine has. He is also blaming President Biden which doesn't make a lot of sense. So isn't Covid alarmism matched by vaccine alarmism?

The concern is that the alarmism went mainstream and/or was accompanied by mandates and damaging restrictions.

It's hard, if not impossible for non alum, local fans to support HC anymore. There is absolutely no return on any emotional investment and the experience, for the most part, is not fun. Those who enjoy watching basketball can go to other venues where they are actually appreciated.

I'll tag onto that by saying I don't believe Ivermectin or horse Viagra or Clorox is the answer. You either get the shot because it makes sense for you and your medical profile, or you don't. Inventing treatments under reverse or fake expertise isn't the solution I am pushing for by any stretch.

Holy Cross funds positions named Associate Athletic Director for External Relations, Director and Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Experience. But they don't seem to be able to show the appreciation any consumer likes to receive. Years ago the back of the ticket used to be a buy one get one coupon for a quarter pounder or chicken sandwich at McDonalds. Not a huge thank you, but something to show appreciation. Then that stopped and was replaced by just the logo for American Airlines, not even redeemable for an extra packet of peanuts on a flight.😟

"In life, it's important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong." - Janis Ian Janis was wise to adopt "Ian" as her stage name as her real last name is "Fink". That might have something to do with her angst about not fitting in, in the lyrics of her hit "At seventeen".
