Massey makes HC as a 9 point favorite (59-50) with a 79% chance for the win. Lafayette is 7-7. They took three straight in the PL over Colgate, Loyola and Navy before falling to Army.

Lafayette's 3-1 record in the PL is misleading, as they have played four second division teams. Despite their league record, they are currently ranked seventh in the patriot league. I would be very surprised if HC doesn’t win that game.

That could be why HC is a 9 point favorite. Massey ranks HC at #208 and Lafayette at #261. Not much to mislead there.

That could be why HC is a 9 point favorite. Massey ranks HC at #208 and Lafayette at #261. Not much to mislead there. 208 has a nice ring to it. At 10-6 it shows the drag the PL and our modest overall OOC schedule has, but I think the schedule has been perfect to build momentum before facing the league iron. Given that 6'3" Demski (leg injury that would keep some off the court) and 6'1" Petro (slight build?) do not provide a regular presence underneath, HC is overachieving with our two 5'11" "Bigs".

What info do you have to suggest Demski is performing under the conditions you regularly repeat ? Many times those knee braces are recommended for support even after a full recovery

What info do you have to suggest Demski is performing under the conditions you regularly repeat ? Many times those knee braces are recommended for support even after a full recovery Visual observance of the way her leg seemed to collapse under her during her fall today and watching her sometimes awkward movement as opposed to what would be more fluid for most players. But you raise a good point I didn't think of, which is that the brace itself could be causing that appearance of awkward movement rather than the underlying injuries she is cleared to play from. In any case I project great effort and determination into her play, deserved or not.

We might see more of Berger tonight as we will need some bulk at the center position - Laf has a 6'3" center Naomi Ganpo who played sparingly her first three years but has improved this season as a starter - she plays around the basket exclusively so she'll be competing for rebounds with some of our smaller bigs. Need to get down to business early and protect home court

I personally liked the goholycross.com game preview title. "Crusaders, Leopards set for Defensive Rock Fight Wednesday Night" Is it fair to say that although head coaches have responsibility for both, they have more control over defensive performance than offensive performance? Coach Magarity is directing the strong defensive effort with the vast majority of minutes played by players she inherited. That's a credit to her and the players. The coaching change in MBB was like an earthquake hitting Mt. St. James, but almost imperceptible on the Richter Scale (except for Kerry Flaherty which is unfortunate) in WBB.

It's much more difficult to teach and develop execution on offense. Running your counters to the defense, reading defenses, and demonstrating timing, execution of screens (and reads for passer, screener, and player using the screen simultaneously) takes much more skill to coach and teach. And that's assuming the coach has all the answers to what a defense can throw at you (many do not) in both man and zone D. So, does a coach have more control of defense? Maybe. But defense is certainly easier to implement. Offense takes more time to develop because it can be more complicated IMO.

That makes sense as HC has strong defense while offensive shooting percentages aren't leading the league to the same extent in the second year (half season last year) of a new coach.

HC scoring in the paint tonight...making the bunnies they have missed in some games. At the end of the 1st Q HC is up 24-17 certainly helped by LaBarbera's 11 pts.
