Does anyone else suffer from shell shock from the 2019-20 season and cringe a little every time the Transfer Portal thread shows a new post?

Neal Quinn (Lafayette) has entered the transfer portal. One of his first contacts after entering the portal was from old friend Milan Brown of the Pitt staff. Multiple high majors have already contacted him. Pitt is likely reaching out to every player with a pulse. We are in the second week of March, and Pitt still has no commitments for next year and has struck out on every target. They are ranked 193rd in the country, and the only reason Capel will keep his job at the end of the year is that he has a buyout of over $15 million. Next year the buyout falls to $5 million and he will be gone.

If you like your Panther glass half full, they have a better seed in today's ACC tournament game than their opponent. Although the bookies seem to like #13 Boston College over #12 Pitt

That contest should get record breaking TV ratings Is it just me or do others feel schools like Pitt, BC and Syracuse just don’t seem like a good fit for the ACC. They seem like lost sheep.

baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....they do. And not that I don't like sheep, but I won't be concerned if these sheep never find their way back (especially those with the maroon wool).

Thinking Quinn might just be getting a jump on keeping his options open, as he waits to see who the new coach is.
Given the style the Leopards played under FOH, I wonder if Princeton or Richmond would be interested.

Has HCBN entered the portal yet? Not yet but a lot of players have in the last day or two. TP is now up to 200. Who knows where it will top out this year.

Not a terribly high number of schools are done yet. although that will change as the week progresses. Kids might wait until their season is over.
Even though the portal is supposed to be private, this generation likes to post that kind of stuff on their social media. IF any HC players decide to test the waters, we'll likely get early confirmation from one of our spotters

Not to sound the alarms, but the associate head coach at Stanford (Adam Cohen) and Kyrell Luc recently began following each other on Twitter.
Hopefully much ado about nothing.

I assume Coach Cohen is smart enough not to do such a thing if there’s a chance he wants Kyrell to go there. Unless he’s already in the portal and we just don’t know it yet.

Well at least the kid's smart enough to go to Stanford. Good enough hoop player? Roster has no small guards and none signed for next year, either.
BTW, Stanford doesn't have a head basketball coach, they have a "Director of Men's Basketball". Pompous asses.

Yeah , like a new patriot league coach wouldn’t want a pretty good seven footer

Well at least the kid's smart enough to go to Stanford. Good enough hoop player? If he couldn't get in or get a scholarship to Stanford before his ROY season, more power to him if he can now. In general I think transfers are much disruption for little gain but this transfer would be one where the logic and benefits are clear. With Kyrell not having a senior season, it is plausible that he would have higher quality offers now than coming out of high school. I trust BN is far better at retention now than in his first season. HC deserves BN's and Kit's best efforts to retain our student athletes. But I begrudge no player from exercising his/her transfer rights. I support the player as long as they gave what they had while wearing purple. If too many players leave it would be a sign of not getting the recruiting right for HC. No departures yet.

I don't like the sound of this, but won't push the panic button yet. I wonder what other reason KL might have for following this guy--per the Stanford website he leads the team;s recruiting efforts....

If Luc leaves, that will be 2 PL ROYs in 3 years to exit.

From what I understand, Batch is less a pure point than Kyrell. If RJ comes back fully healthy, Batch would have a better chance at Kyrell’s 2 guard minutes. I did not think Grandison was a Big 10 player, but Kyrell is not a Pac12 player. A 5’10”(?) primarily scoring guard is not a good fit for any high major. CAA, A10, far more likely, but not the Pac12.

I have to agree on that - with his height being a real deterrent to a high major. Of course, some on here have been pushing him in that direction for some time now. It might not be in his best interest or that of HC...but neither of those things seem important to those who keep looking for HC athletes to leave via the TP.
