I continue to respect the effort Gates puts out every game and he’s so undersized ! Patsos was correct when he said GG is 6’4 1/2”, ‘maybe’ 6’5”

He cant turn it around not because of desire but he through no fault of his own is not reached a level in coaching that he should be lleading a team I do believe the program can be turned around quickly with the right coach We are auguring in toward #358. This is so painful to watch. We are now in Sagarin’s bottom ten. Does that mean we get a lottery pick?

351st of 358 in Ken Pom though all of yesterday's games.
Swell...

Lottery pick must be used for an established head coach and one big from the portal that can contribute day 1

Recruiting players that can't shoot the basketball to play basketball is like recruiting members for the swimming team that don't know how to swim.

I want to underscore that I respect, and even admire, the continued effort shown by the team and the coaches. But a change is obviously needed. What's that cliche, if you find yourself in a hole stop digging.

Really hard to watch. My wife suggested I not watch anymore after walking in with about a minute left in the game. I fear she may be right. I should have mentioned that I was on the ground in the fetal position sobbing and sucking my thumb when she walked in.

Knowing the kind of person and competitor he is, this must be killing RJE. At least HE has a resume.
Remember that old Imus bit, "Who doesn't belong and why?" Here's an easy one: Shaka Smart, Rick Pitino, BN.
Would love to hear RJ's dad's take on this mess.

Let RJ run with it the rest of the way....time for Nelson to go. What are we gaining by letting him finish out the season? Some sort of professionalism? Spare me.

Professionalism and courtesy are not so easily dismissed. They are about all we have right now in the hoop program.

I turned the game off at 8:30, and I seldom give up on a team. They were pathetic shooting the ball. I do not believe the players are as bad as the record shows. They just haven’t been put in a position to succeed. Without a miraculous turnaround, the staff should go.

Well, the precedent was set with TGilmore. The kids likely would benefit (how could it possibly hurt?) from a different voice the final month of the season. At least we know they'd play hard, and with pride. 10 more games of this would be impossible to stomach.
At least baseball starts in 22 days.

Don't wait until then, watch the ladies. Avery LaBarbera is that team's Austin Butler (and hits the floor almost as often! ). You can actually see her leadership and is running a long string of double-doubles as a top rebounder at 5'6". And, they happen to have a coach who actually seems to know what she's doing and has post game comments after each game. Imagine that?!

Question:
Does one nix one's ESPN+ subscription now, and re-up in time for football season, or does one leave it alone in the hopes of seeing some good lacrosse, baseball and PL Tourney women's hoop games?
...................asking for a friend (and former HCMBB fan).

The last 4 minutes of the game just looked different to me (in terms of body language/movements/energy) ....and not in a good way. I don't particularly like sitting behind a keyboard being critical of everything, but dang it, the coach brings this on himself by not communicating with us. I noticed the same thing, Nad. up until last night I thought that Nelson still had the team motivated. Now he may have lost them. I hope Kit talks to all the players and assistants immediately after the last game.

Not sure how you're calculating winning % but they're not this. They are .166 and .142 ACTP Late night math🙂. Made the correction Take away our 5-5 record against BU and Army last year (How did that happen??), and our D-1record in the BN era is 4-49 - a .076 winning percentage. If I'm BN, I might think twice before bringing green bananas to the office.

Louisville fired their coach, 11-9 on the season. His quote, paraphrased, is something along the lines of "Man I just had to win more games." And he didn't say it from the perspective as the administration was being unfair.
They settled on a $4.8M buyout, despite being $12M contractually.
I'm not saying that we're the same "school" from an education, standards, enrollment, endowment, public/private, university/college standpoint. But if you want to talk about professional, courteous, and striving for excellence, THAT's a basketball program. What are we? More like a charity.

It's also one that's had an inordinate amount of scandal, some under Mack's leadership (see Gaudio, Dino). Not surprising he's gone; wonder what would have happened if they were 17-3.

Any insights as to what he had to say? He has seemed to be visibly more upset the last few games but that's hard to tell watching a game on ESPN+. This consistent losing has to be getting to him.

We got beat up pretty good in that game, fair or unfair. Our lineup was primarily smaller than theirs, Nelson felt like Rabs&Louth weren't effective enough to be used more, and, right or wrong, that contributed a lot to the physical mismatches. Gates, of course, most likely took the brunt of it. Whatever happened, happened right in front of Nelson.

He’s had a couple. One in FL in year one when Louder got hurt. Had at least one other this year that I witnessed. Either Q or Fairfield maybe - tough to get old!

It was a bit odd. I was sitting right across from HC's bench, and I could hear Nelson all night-but didn't hear him say anything at all before he got T'd. I knew it was on him b/c the ref pointed right at him after signaling, but it wasn't like he was yelling at the top of his lungs.
