There was a lot to like with last night's Lehigh win. After Lynch stymied Gates in the first half, he came back strong and Kenney was great on D. JM still struggling IMO - maybe trying too hard? I think Louth is doing pretty well especially rebounding and might just be me but he's feet seem quicker on D. He does need to work on his offense but that might come with time.
However, I'd tap the brakes a bit on getting too excited as this was one win in a row. We got a little over excited after beating Laffy and thought we got over the hump only to lose the next 3 games and had 3 postponed. Let's see how we do against BU on Monday night.
While the biggest thing last night was we didn't really get into a meltdown, that closing minute was pretty darn close and with some bad luck a close win could have been a close loss.
BTW, tip of the Hatlo hat (look it up youngsters) to NAD for being at the game and cheering on the Crusaders.

There was nothing but air between Bubba and that 3 pointer! The TV folks refused to acknowledge that. Must have looked different from the angle that the official was looking at it from. In the NBA, they would have overturned that one. Can't blame the Lehigh guy for trying (and it worked), but the Stanislavkys on 3 point attempts have gotten epidemic at all levels. I used that same work to describe a Mountain Hawk going down after grazing contact from Dorsey

Tom, myself and Annie's Dad pretty much represented the center court HC fan base. My excitement is contained to living in the moment. Indeed, will be interesting to see Monday's game. I also liked seeing multiple guys taking it to the rim. After all, I thought that was a big component of Attack and Serve.

This ties the longest win streak of the year The end was pretty darn close. Closer because of two major mistakes down the stretch. Fortunate Lehigh missed some free throws

I couldn’t watch yesterday. Just watched the second half. Happy with the effort and there was some improvement. I’ll take the win.

Excuses work when nobody wants to be accountable or responsible this is owned by the head coach- the buck stops there with any other PL coach this team is near or above double digit wins does he survive another year? perhaps but if so the final season looks like 10-12,wins at best God save the Queen/King What is this claim based on? 4 teams in the PL have double digit wins and all of them have far better, FAR more experienced rosters. But for a fun exercise, by process of elimination, lets hypothesize that Jones, Hardy, Allen, or Dechellis would get this HC roster to double digit wins. We have played 19 games. If you apply each of the above coaches career winning percentage while at their PL schools one (1) would be at double digit wins through 19 games. Joe Jones’ career .524 win percentage would put him at an expected 10.2 wins through 19 games. I don’t think Nelson has done a good job. I also think it’s crazy to expect him to be challenging for a PLC in year 3 with a team full of guys with little D1 experience. My comment about other coaches getting near double digit wins was for the season which would be a season with 9-12.wins— that includes OOC games would demonstrate some level of progress, building for the future,, and make a case for the team learning how to win games i am not sure 4-7 wins for the season will make the case

It feels great to see the team win! They must be relieved to see their hard work pay off. Hope to see a few more Ws. Does anyone else think that in those final two Lehigh trips to the foul line when all we needed to do was get a rebound maybe Coulibaly should have been in the game?

It’s tough to win on the road, especially if you’re a .500 team, which some thought this team would be at the start of the season. They lost to Navy at home, arguably one of the better PL teams, and won the other two. If they can keep serve at home, steal a couple on the road, they could salvage what may have been a lost season. We’ll see.

The thing the coach has to consider is the increased probability of getting the rebound vs the decreased probability of making the free throws at the other end once we get fouled. As the clock winds down, you start to prioritize getting the rebound at all costs even if you have to put bad free throw shooters on the floor to get it.

I watched 15-20 minutes of their game against Colgate yesterday? Their big has really developed into a force and we all know about Whyte and McCoy. BTW, the latter is 24 years old according to the announcers.

In 85 minutes of PL play, Coulibaly has 30 rebounds--pretty impressive

I'd have to agree, 3.0 seconds left when the first of those attempts was put up. Even if Louth got fouled after grabbing the rebound, it would take a second off the clock. 2.0 seconds and gathering a miss and taking it 50 feet for a long 3 is very difficult. On the other hand, sometimes when it's an intentional miss with a crazy carom off the rim; quickness is more important than height.

In 85 minutes of PL play, Coulibaly has 30 rebounds--pretty impressive That is about 14 rebounds per 40, if he played 28-30 min per game he possibly would be averaging 10 reb each time out-like BUs Mathon—those are top 10 numbers nationally So perhaps the answer is he should have more than 85 min this season, and just imagine with the rate of progression and development for a big where he might be by next year. if the athletic story only tells part of the story, other programs might be whispering in his hear right now

The strides Louth has made since arriving on campus as a very raw kid who didn’t look to have done a lot of training and conditioning work has definitely been a bright spot for us. Hope he gets a lot more time going forward.

Another quality of Gates that is so valuable is his avoiding fouls. He can play very big minutes, which are necessary for us to be at all competitive.

Talking about Gates. His jump hook from 10 feet out on the baseline was the most difficult shot I have ever seen him hit. And at such a key moment.
It reminded me a little bit of the kind of shot Ed Siudut (RIP) used to hit with incredible consistency. While Ed was a fine outside shooter, I think his touch around the basket might have been the best of any HC player I can remember.
