Massey makes BU a 12 point favorite (74-62) at home on Monday and gives them an 89% chance for the win. (Sorry to have fallen down on the job - family illness)

Sukhmail Mathon is the best big man in the conference, averaging a double-double, leading the PL in rebounding. He also gets to the line more than anybody else, and has become a very good free throw shooter (79%). He tops the league in more esoteric categories, too, like efficiency rating, offensive rating, and win shares. Legitimate POY candidate, along with teammate Javate McCoy.
We offered him out of high school when he was quite raw. Sadly, he declined.

Exhibit A for not writing off a player too soon.......

BU is a better team than HC but they've had some struggles recently. IIRS there was an article about this recently in the Globe.

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK The struggles of Boston University men’s basketball are truly perplexing
By Joe Sullivan Globe correspondent, Updated January 18, 2022, 12:28 p.m.
Men’s college basketball in Massachusetts is like a bad winter weather report: Mostly cloudy with continuous storm warnings and only occasional breaks for sun. Start with Boston University. The Terriers are, as Winston Churchill once said about Russia, a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. After being favored to win the Patriot League with a veteran team, BU is 2-4 after losing to Navy Sunday. It was flabbergasting to see how badly the Terriers were outplayed by the Midshipmen, a good team that beat Virginia in November but one that is not as talented as BU. It’s difficult to detect exactly what’s wrong, why a team that’s played so well in the past — well enough to win a Patriot League championship — isn’t playing up to its potential.
Coach Joe Jones has identified the problem. “We’re not playing with enough effort for 40 minutes; that’s the biggest issue we’re having,” he said. “At times, we turn the ball over too much. I think the turnovers have hurt us, but it’s more our lack of consistent fight that you have to play with to win.”
He’ll continue to address the problem in his usual positive manner. That has worked for him in the past. “I’m 56 years old, I’ve coached in a lot of games,” he said. “I’ve had seasons like this when things haven’t gone your way at the start and you get better and better and you don’t know what’s going to happen in the end. “We’ve just got to take it one practice at a time, try to get better. I want to encourage them because I really believe in this team, that this team can win, and that’s the message I want to send.”
Statistically, there’s nothing jarring. Maybe they’re not shooting the ball as well as they once did. The fact is, this is pretty much the same team that won the Patriot League two seasons ago; they’ve yet to recapture that spirit of that season.
Next, the Terriers face a tough road game at much-improved Loyola Wednesday night. Then they have a winnable home game against Lehigh Saturday. A sweep would indicate Jones is closer to solving the riddle.
Holy Cross: Would it be wrong to say it was almost a relief to Holy Cross fans that the last three games have been postponed because of COVID problems?

Do we know when the three postponed games due to Covid protocols will be played? Will they definitely be rescheduled ?

Not like the Patriot League would do anything to inform the public of whatever decisions they make.

As bad as HC is, no one in the atrocious pL is good enough to lay 16. Take.

at Army on Sat, then go to Colgate for a Monday game (5th & 7th). Then home vs Loyola on the 9th, Wed
at Bucknell on the 12th then home vs American on the 14th. Then BU home on the 16th, Wed
at Navy on the 19th then at Lafayette (closer to home) on the 21st. Then Colgate home on the 23rd Wed.
They actually may have put some thought into it; given the challenges of fitting in the games, they could have done a lot worse.
Let's face it, the most likely scenario is one tournament game; might as well get some games in.

In a fair and just world Butler and Faw would be in HC grad programs, and McCoy and Mathon would have moved on to a Big East school.

Be prepared for more of the same for a few more years. BTW, McCoy is 24 years old according to the announcers who did their game the other day vs. Colgate.

Although the Homecoming E-mail suggests Hart policies will be relaxed in the not too distant future, tonight's game is currently one of the few opportunities for Hart Center regulars without season tickets to see the team in person.
There was some thought in the Lehigh discussion that Caleb Kenney has passed the freshman wall. For that to be true, he will need to follow up with a strong performance tonight. He had a big game vs Harvard and was pretty quiet the next night out.
Hoping to get something out of the center position tonight. Last game Coulilbaly got some minutes and Rabinovich was a DNP. Two games prior to that total flip flop. Rabinovich got the minutes and Coulibaly was DNP. No way of predicting how that one will go on any given night

There may well be quite a few 24 year olds playing college hoops for the next few years until this Covid bonus year thing flushes through..... Im sure HC has had a few players in the past that approached that age when they graduated. So many kids are kept back in middle school or Prep a year which puts them at the 19 or 20 age group when starting College. Might be why HC stopped posting a players YoB
