Murphy mention in the Globe: www.bostonglobe.com/metro/regionals/west/2016/12/16/expecting-still-more-from-special-talents/zrRZL0qXTB9LnGw4xTMYvN/story.htmlIn Watertown, where the Raiders have turned over almost all of the roster after last winter’s run to the Division 2 state final, Holy Cross-bound forward Shannon Murphy is likely to see far more double-teams. The 6-foot-2 Murphy was part of a balanced load for the Raiders last season, averaging 11 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, and 3.5 steals. By head coach Pat Ferdinand’s plus-minus metrics, Murphy was a plus-18 for the season, never having a game in the negatives. But this season will be different, as the team opens up the floor to a swath of youngsters. “Her footwork against double-teams,’’ said Ferdinand, “is going to have to get really good.’’ Ferdinand said he’s shown Murphy footage of her future Holy Cross teammate, All-Scholastic former Bishop Feehan star forward Lauren Manis, and challenged her to play even harder. “She doesn’t necessarily say something right away, but she’s a kid who internalizes,” Ferdinand said. “Shannon pushes herself really hard.”
