Mr. Carey used to run Fox News or the Fox network IIRC. Congratulations to CU. A boost of one PL partner is a boost of all PL partners.

It cost 37 million 5 years ago to build the 2,200 seat hockey arena that replaced Starr Arena. What will 25 million buy Colgate now?
Going to be better than that glorified Quonset Hut no matter what.

This appears to be a lead gift. I'd be surprised if Colgate hasn't already earmarked or intends to raise additional funds for the project. My guess is that the ultimate cost of the project will be well in excess of $25 million.

Think of what HC could have done w/the Hart Center basketball arena footprint based on that rendition.

In case no one else noticed the opening paragraph on Crucis' link:
So, at least Colgate believes that athletics helps build the school's reputation. Or, are they in the entertainment business?

A comment from the Colgate Message Board:
“One final comment from the Endowment section of this site from last Sept, apparently redoing Reid is in the range of $65m so Chase's gift is the basis of what surely will be a big fundraising effort like Class of '65 which is as it should be but also suggests they probably won't be breaking ground this June...Next major fund raising campaign starts this Spring too so there will be a lot of chatter and mail while buildings go up. Exciting times for our school. ”

I interpreted "setting the University apart" as meaning apart from the NESCAC/Little Ivy type D-3 schools they are similar to academically. As Mr. Foley likes to highlight, some of the D-3 schools have facilities that are newer or better so they might just be keeping up with them as opposed to setting themselves apart, which the athletic division already does.

Not bad!

A boost of one PL partner is a boost of all PL partners. This is just not true. Can’t think of one good thing that has happened to another PL school that has done anything tangible for HC. We got a fancy new practice facility and a great coach simultaneously. Great for HC football. Terrible for the rest of the league which continues to be awful. Loyola wins big lax games all the time. HC lax is awful. CJ McCollum is an NBA star and beat Duke in the NCAA tourney. HC BBall got no lift.

Mr. Foley would go from gloating to insufferable as he posted photo after photo of gleaming new facilities at non-PL schools. PL football is an example. HC has five OOC games to challenge itself, but the six games before the playoffs are against PL teams. The stronger they get, the better prepared HC becomes in the FCS tournament and the higher seeding we get. A rising tide lifts all PL boats.
