Even if Lehigh wins tomorrow night, with a win we are alone in 4th based on percentage.

What an opportunity to tangibly demonstrate a turn around by beating the same team that totally dominated you a few weeks ago.

Looked like the football team was at the women's game Saturday Yes, a large group arrived 3 minutes into the game. Most left at halftime but some stayed into the early fourth quarter.

The student attendance/engagement project needs some serious work; and to be honest, it was an issue prior to Covid.
HC isn't unique, but it's just so different in areas of the country where pro sports don't dominate. And I'm not talking about power schools - the other night I briefly checked in on a Big South game hosted by Longwood. Lotsa people in their small facility. Student section all wearing the same white t-shirts. Most were standing. Not looking at phones - when shots went up for their team eyes were following the flight of the ball. Loud cheers when they went in, and groans when they didn't. So sad that HC no longer has that. The students were also leading the Defense chants, with other fans chiming in with claps, as opposed to HC, where the old fogies have to take the lead role.
As for the game, I look at this one as the most important of the remaining games. I feel this way because I look at the post season in terms of improving the worst case scenario, that being, avoiding a 9-10 seed. I would think beating AU would make it very difficult for that to happen, given that they would have 7 league wins. Lose, though, and then you lose a tiebreaker should they end up tied with AU in the standings.
I'm sure I'm in the minority but, if HC can't get the 4th seed, I would rather they get a 7 seed so they can host a game. Sure, would mean an extra game and a quarterfinal game on a quick turnaround, but they would certainly be well prepared for that. Only exception to this would be if they were a 5 seed playing at BU (if they were a 4). I would be fine with that (or at BU as a 6 seed)!

HC -2.5 (opened at 3.5)
We’re actually favored in a game.

The AU game was rock bottom; not only did they lose big (which had, of course, happened before) but the game also gave me the perception, attitude-wise, the wheels were falling off the wagon.
Hope whatever transpires the rest of the season, none of us get that perception again.

I hope I don't need Tom to come to the rescue for me like he did for Sader Fan. I fear dumbo here threw away his printed tickets for tonight. I have the email with all the tickets, but cannot seem to download them individually so they can scan them. I do also have the email just sent about the pregame thing Wednesday. I'm not near a printer now or otherwise would just reprint.

In our first game with AU we were defeated handily 67-49. HC hit only .409 on twos (Gates was 9/20= .450 but rest of team 9/24= .375) and 2/14 on threes. We rebounded well enough but had only 3 assists. AU connected at .548 on twos and had only 9 3-point attempts, making 3. Believe it or not, we have shot below that .409 on twos in 3 of past 6 games.
HC was 7/11 on free throws while AU was 12/16. In 5 of next 6 games HC had a higher "Free Throw Rate" than opponents and we need that again tonight.
Louth played only 8minutes and KL 27, shorter time than he's played of late. Malcolm got 26 minutes so our rotations will certainly be different tonight in this must-win game.

When was the last time HC was favored in a D-1 game?
Very cold out there today, 18 feels like 3 here just west of HC...I'm getting too old for this cold!..I hope the young students find it in them to hike up the hill!

Hiking up the hill in the cold as a barrier to attendance is sadly comical to those of us who routinely hitchhiked to the Worcester Auditorium.

Speaking of chants, with tonight’s opponent being American.....It is time to revive a chant that was often heard doing my four years against another team.... ”What do we want to eat...... Eagle meat”. Hoping there is a HC feast tonight.
