BBC-- Would appreciate your thoughts on one specific item as we debate whether CBN "just rolls the ball there" or whether he has installed an offense. HC stands at #355 of 358 D-1 teams in "assist percentage". How do you interpret that stat, or do you see it as just a meaningless stat? Some might suggest that it shows we don't have an offense that looks to set up players for good scoring opportunities.

Careful, KY, you are treading close to “hater” territory.

The HIPA answer was in response to a question about MT's injury; he did confirm Malcolm is done for the season. No one asked about RJ, so no feedback was given.
They love the potential of Caleb; the staff had been pushing him to be aggressive on the floor, and as we see it's been happening. Hopefully he can take it to the next level down the road. I don't think any other players came up in conversation.

I should say, other than Austin Lewis (that sader1970 mentioned earlier).

Some might suggest that it shows we don't have an offense that looks to set up players for good scoring opportunities. Our only true PG has played in 7 games this year. We are way too heavily reliant on a Freshmen Combo Guard who has a very bright shooter, but is not the type of player right now who is going to be a catalyst for an offense that generates high percentage shots off passes. We are also a poor perimeter shooting team -- perimeter jump shots are essentially cheap assists (unless a guy pulls up on a fast break), and we get very few of them. I would love to hear any thoughts on what others would be doing differently with our current group to generate better results on offense. Apologies if I missed something, but I have yet to hear anything other than whining about HCBN. Go Cross Go!!

Let me give credit to NAD about my Lewis question. I shared with him how I was thinking to word it and he suggested a much more diplomatic way to present the question. (PM me if you want to know what my initial question was going to be). I will say that in Kennedy's response, he reaffirmed my prior observation and posts here how Austin is really a solid teammate and very supportive. I do hope we don't lose him to the transfer portal but it sounds like the staff doesn't fear that despite his lack of playing time and they recognize his potential and stated he shoots very well and is quick (my observation from the open practice). He's getting stronger and, again, you can't teach height. I still find it difficult to accept that he's so far behind everyone else that he can't contribute to some degree, especially when there is a crying need for outside shooters. As for the MT question, I admit that I caught the answer but not the question because I was on my way to the small table buffet . So, I wasn't sure if Kennedy was talking about RJ or MT and didn't want to speculate here. FWIW, one of the season ticket holders there who is a retired doctor and shall remain anonymous was irritated on the HIPA dodge. He says not answering these injury questions "because of HIPA is B.S." and doesn't apply. I told him that HC, at least, has been using this reason for probably close to 20 years. So, not unique to this staff. And whether valid or an excuse, it doesn't bother me. I don't think Holy Cross is unique in this area.

Kennedy did say Caleb reminds him of Jehyve Floyd but that Caleb is much more developed than Floyd was at this point. I'll leave it to those with better memories whether Kennedy's statement is accurate.

He loves the school if both true he stays No. This has been a "normal" year. Last year with so many teams playing reduced schedule, the NCAA gave out the "free" COVID year. No freshmen are getting the free COVID year. The free year was 2020-21. Only people who played that season get the extra eligibility

I don't see any evidence of Lewis being eligible 4 more years; only, like anyone else; he's eligible to play 3 out of the next 4 years.

I'll leave it to those with better memories whether Kennedy's statement is accurate. I saw Jehyve play in his visit during his senior year of high school He and Kenney are similar in that both are fast, jump quickly and high, and have limited offense arsenals. Jehyve rarely dribbled to the hoop as does Caleb. They both rebound at both ends. the big obvious difference is Jehyve is 6’9”.

In around the middle of the second half, Kyrell and GG twice ran a high screen and pop.on the left side around the 3 point line.. On both, Mathon hedged strong on Kyrell, Kyrell’s defender did not switch, and Kyrell passed to an open GG for free throw jumpers, both of which he converted. That play was not run the rest of the game. I believe GG hit a third jumper shortly after those two from the same general area on a different action.

Agree with the above Just trying to put his situation in real terms If we get one more year from him that will be great, especially if Gates moves on, as I don’t hear of any 4/5s we are involved with

How bright will next season’s future be if GG does not return ? How about if Kyrell leaves ? Not great! How many pL teams are well-positioned to lose their best two players? Well, Colgate lost their best, Burns, and one of their next best, Richardson.
