To hear announcers bragging about getting a call changed was unprofessional (Note: not doing it, but bragging about it on air). They had been pretty good up until the last 2 minutes or so.

Holy Cross shot 39% from the field, Navy 27%.
In three of our last four wins, we've shot under 40%

HC + 12 points on field goals but Navy +7 points from the free throw line
I didn't care for the officiating, especially on Navy's #55 wrestling with Martindale on that inbounds play and not getting called for a hack

It sounded like the announcers were yelling to either the officials or Navy coaching to look at their replay ("it's as clear as day"). It was also as clear as day that JM was fouled. But JM shouldn't be out there at the end of games to break a press; he's indecisive and unsure of himself.

When Bo can avoid 2 first half fouls, good things seem to happen.
Louth strong today as well.

HC + 12 points on field goals but Navy +7 points from the free throw line Navy had +10 FGA, +10 FTA, seven fewer turnovers, more rebounds - and lost.

Every road win is great! This team can make some noise in the playoffs. We have won 4 pL road games only two other times since the league expanded in 2014.

Holy Cross is now 7-2 in PL games decided by two or fewer possessions. Good end-game play and management, and growing maturity .

Might any of this be due to coaching? Too subtle?

These youngsters are growing up before our eyes.. NO way we win this type of game in December... The sophomores have now played a full season of D-1 games! The growth of individual players, like Louth is tremendous...a big ATTABOY to the staff!

Might any of this be due to coaching? Absolutely. And since earlier in the I season stated BN couldn't coach I've asked my wife to look for some crow at Whole Foods so that I can eat a heaping plate of it.

The difference between the first Navy game at home and this one on the road points to the program’s trajectory being up.

Navy had 18 offensive rebounds, a pretty rare occurrence

Extremely ugly at the end, but a tremendous road win for this young team! Played excellent for 30 minutes, took our foot off the gas too soon, but still made enough plays to win down the stretch — a young, growing team with some serious onions.Future is bright! Go Cross Goooo!!! I think a more accurate spin would be that we played embarrassingly bad those last few possessions and Navy played even worse.
That said, we played a terrific first 30 minutes to go up 45-30 with 11:28 left. Then on the next 19 possessions we shot 1-9 and had 10 turnovers.
Navy, no doubt, cranked up their defensive pressure but we were a deer in the headlights until the 2 minute mark.
We gutted it out though. Not pretty but a really important win.

One of the best thing about the team's recent performances, their miscues notwithstanding, is that they've shown mental toughness. If Gates returns next year I'm going to feel pretty good about this team.

Per KenPom, our offensive efficiency was our lowest since the bc game, but our defensive efficiency was the best since we beat Army by 16 points last February

As ACTP says, no one in this league should be laying that kind of number. (Well, maybe ‘gate)

-Dorsey drilling the corner 3 when we were down 1 with approx 2 mins left, trailing for the first time in the second half, and in danger of Navy getting separation if we didn’t score that possession (my vote for Play of the Game) -Gates drilling a jump shot to answer again after Navy tied it -Bo’s defense, rebounding, and making two clutch free throws in a 1-and-1 situation There was certainly some dreadful plays in the closing moments (and last 1/4 of the game in general), but HC also made some big time plays to step up and win — this wasn’t just Navy giving the game away at the end.

Navy beat Virginia and Virginia beat Duke.
We’re better than Duke. Maybe it’s time to revisit bringing Duke to the DCU. 😁

One has to always remember that there is a cause-effect in every play in the game....Yes, there were some bad passes, Dorsey to Dorsey for one, but the pass was on target, the Navy Dorsey read it and made the steal...Not saying it was an intelligent choice of pass, just that the defender made a move that the passer didn't see and react to....Good pressure on D makes team shoot the ball with less accuracy on offence. This group of players are learning how to win at this level.....On D and with free throws, along with good offence to get ahead...I like what I see out there.
The teams that seem to give use the most trouble have a dominate 5...We have to find a way to slow them down..Louth is getting there, Caleb is also..I'd lk=ike to see more pressure on the ball...

Biggest shot of the game? My vote is Dorsey's three from the corner to put us up 50-48 after Navy had just gone ahead for the first time in the second half.
Best pass of the game? Gates dish to Louth for the dunk.
Worst pass of the game? Gotta be Gates inbound lob pass to no one. I almost went through the TV. Rewatching it, he had a clear pass to a cutting Dorsey and he didn't hit him.
Best defensive sequence of the game? Bo Montgomery! Two blocks and a steal in a ten second sequence from 19 secs to 9 secs to save the game.

the fact that we didn't have a timeout down the stretch almost cost us the game - maybe using them early was important at the time but it's always a risk when there's no plan on those inbound passes

As ACTP says, no one in this league should be laying that kind of number. (Well, maybe ‘gate) My daughter called me with the result a little after 2....right when I was going to watch the game. Do not think I could have withstood watching them blow that lead w/o knowing they got it back.
