Lewis, Hart and Oron in at the end. No Rabs. Is he injured? Hopefully (in terms of being able to contribute, nothing else) injured. If you can't use the guy against the immobile mighty Quinn (who was having his way offensively), who can you use him against? Only thing HC did at all well at the defensive end was rebound. But there were not that many Lafayette missed shots. They shot 56%. And they rarely send anyone to the offensive boards.

Rabinovich was not suited up last night. My bigger concern is that we were allowing that big stiff to just back down Gates and Louth without anyone else digging down or doubling him to even try and make him uncomfortable.

A game plan? Well, he almost pulled that off last year second time around. I'm not sure there is any way to stay with a team shooting the way Lafayette did yesterday...when we could not hit so many wide open shots.

Went to the game last night. $11 for a ticket and free parking, although the parking deck, my usual spot, was closed for repairs. Saw former Crusader Matt Husek there. There was one other family of a player in the visitor's section. Without going through 7 pages of posts, some observations:
1) Looked like coach FOH had a simple game plan--feed their 7' center at the low post and have him bull his way to the basket for a baby hook. IF the double game, he passed it out to one of the sharp shooters or a cutter. 2) CJ Fulton had an impressive game with 5 of 6 from beyond the arc. He also had a beautiful cross-over move which left Dorsey in the dust, and drove to the basket for a lay up. Not a good night defensively for HC. 3) Kudos for Gates, who has developed a nice mid-range jumper. Good offensive rebounding effort for Coulibaly. 3) IN person, one can see how physically our guys just don't match up well with LC's stronger, taller collection of centers and forwards. 4) Thought HC had a chance after Luc's beautiful steal and dunk (what elevation!) and his subsequent 3 pointer. But then it was all LC after that. 5) Good crowd at the Kirby Center with at least 100 students there. LC leads the PL in attendance, and expects a full house on Saturday afternoon for FOH's final regular season game. He has done an impressive job of recruiting, despite his age. Will be interesting to see how far the Leopards go in the post-season tournament. Nelson was gracious in defeat and had a short conversation with FOH during the post-game handshake line. Good to see sportsmanship still prevails in the PL.

You mean, Nelson didn't take a shot at Fran, like the "big boys" do?!!! Well, see at least there's that.

One of the dozen worst squads in the country by pretty much any measure. According to the stats at teamranking.com, HC shoots 40.6% from the floor for a ranking of 308 out of the 358 teams who play D1 hoops. On the defensive end of the floor, opponents are shooting 49.5% which places HC at number 312 in terms of shooting percentage defense. Those numbers are for D1 games only. I won't get into apg and assist/turnover ratio but those are even worse.

Throw around numbers like that and I’m going to think we aren’t that good a team.

One team couldn’t do anything wrong the other…

If we play perimeter defense against Colgate the way we did last night, Weds has the potential to be a very ugly evening. Not concerned though. I'm sure our coach will come up with a game plan that will totally stymie Colgate. (wink) The only team that can execute Colgate's game plan (dump it in, kick it out if the big guy can't score) better than Lafayette did is Colgate.

Wonder how the ranking would fall today? I have to doubt HC would be 2 or Bucknell 1 or Colgate 10 It would an interesting exercise.

T2. HOLY CROSS (57) – The program had plenty of tradition back in the 1940’s and ’50s with guys like Bob Cousy and Tommy Heinsohn. The Crusaders went into the Patriot League in 1991 and went to the NCAA tourney in ’93 under George Blaney. Ralph Willard went in 2001, ’02, ’03 and ’07, but the program has been mediocre for the past decade or so. Holy Cross ranks second in history, third in game atmosphere and selling pros, and in the middle of the league in everything else.
Where they win: “Brand-new facility is phenomenal, the history, and [it’s] one of the best academic schools in the league.” – Patriot league assistant
The knock: “It’s tough to get kids into school, Worcester isn’t the best city and there are still high expectations from the old, old days.” – Patriot League assistant

Based on the comment, admissions has been a major roadblock in success. The same problem plagued football as well as other sports.
The time is now with a new administration and new head of admissions to go toe to toe and win the battle with schools for the top athletic and academic candidates in each class. There have been several people who have not served Alma Mater well in this regard. Obviously, based on the comment from a Patriot League Assistant, the blame for lack of success can not be laid solely at the feet of the coaching staff.

Confusion might be overall basketball history where HC is unquestionably #1 vs. since PL inception where we don’t hold that same lofty position thanks to an alarming lack of coaching talent (tell me who was a better than average Crusader coach after Willard).

Milan B is the closest to .500 at .454 I found it curious that he is 6th on the all time wins list.

Milan's 2013-14 season is also the last time HC finished with better than a .500 record overall and in the PL. While I still believe it was the right decision to move on from Milan, it's interesting to think what the 2016-17 roster could have looked like. Some names who all would have been underclassmen -- Proctor, Kostecka, Floyd. Quite the nucleus.

Understood when I made the comment. It is now time to correct the deficiencies from the previous regime, which based on the webinar last week should be underway.
