Massey calls this a toss-up game with the one point nod to HC at home (60-59) and gives the Crusaders a 51% chance for the win.
In their first game, BU won by 18 and they will be coming at us with everything they have from the opening second.

BU injured players apparently back, different club we're playing compared to the last time.

BU still doesn't have Esposito/won't have Esposito. Agree that BU should be favored as well. Will be a great game! One final game for first place? Can't ask for a more fun opportunity that that!

This game is very important, for seeding and thus which of the 3 contenders will get the automatic first place invite to the NIT if that team loses in the PL tourney. We lost to BU the first time, and split with AU. I do not know the tie breaker format. Could be a three way tie.

If HC loses, need Lafayette to knock off AU, something I might not of thought possible a week ago, but since then Lafayette has knocked off BosU & Lehigh (which has imploded over the last 3 games). If HC loses, & AU wins, BU will be #1 seed, HC gets the 3rd seed as they lose the tie vs AU, which split with BU. All 3 teams would finish at 13-5 in this case.

If the tourney format the same as the men? 7v10 and 8v9 first round

We lost to BU the first time, and split with AU. I do not know the tie breaker format. Could be a three way tie. The NIT guarantees a spot to one team from each conference. So even getting the 2 seed is important, since that earns an invite to the NIT if the 1 seed wins the PLT. Of course there are also other reasons to prefer the 2 seed over the 3, i.e. home court for the semi and possibly home court for the finals.

If HC finishes third and does not win the PLT, should they enter one of the pay to play minor national post season tournaments and try to bring some hardware home to HC?
Yes from my perspective as a fan for whom the games are appointment viewing on ESPN+ and as a proud alumnus who would like to see Holy Cross win another basketball championship of any kind.
But I can understand if the players would not be excited and rather be ready to begin their off season. I would hope there would be no financial restriction on HC's part after it spent whatever was necessary to secure a home FCS playoff game, and maybe more than was necessary due to the sealed bid arrangement.

If we have to 'pay to play'- my answer is 'absolutely not' - it's a long enough season

As far as I know, the only other women’s tournament is the WBI, which only takes eight teams. Other than the NCAA and the NIT, I’m not sure there are any other women’s tournaments right now other than that one.

With HC ranking #181 in the NET and #186 in Massey, I doubt they will get into a small field tournament.

Reminds me of the old bumper sticker: Jesus Saves.....and Espo tips in the rebound! What exactly did Ms. Esposito do well? Averaged 6.4 per game, shot 33% from the floor and 24% from 3 point land. Great defender, maybe?

All PL teams have a two out of ten chance for an auto bid to a post season national tournament. Who can ask for better than that?

Indeed you shouldn’t, because the patriot league has nothing to do with HC’s ranking.

AU will be the 2 seed if it beats Lafayette, no matter what happens in the HC-BU game. If HC and AU win, AU finishes a game ahead of BU in conference play, and gets the 2 seed. If BU beats HC, and AU beats Lafayette, and all three teams tie with 13-5 conference marks, BU would get the 1 seed by virtue of a 3-1 combined record this season against AU and HC. AU, which split its four games with HC and BU, would be the two seed. HC would be the 3 seed by virtue of a 1-3 combined record this season against AU and BU.

If an Espisoto can't make it in Boston, where can she? Good luck to this fine young woman. HC lost Kerry Flaherty but that was between seasons, which is less disruptive to the program than mid season. Radio silence in both cases, which is probably for the best. Let the student athlete move on with the least hassle.

Avery has 1417 career points. She needs 122 more to join a two way tie for tenth place all time at 1539, so unlikely. She was robbed of half a season last year and at least one playoff game the year before by Covid. She might make the top ten in other categories but the communications dept. doesn't give us a career stat watch like the interminable ones for Yaz 3000 hits and 400 home runs, which were actually fun to follow.
