Massey makes HC the favorite by 3 (68-65) and gives us a 58% chance for the win. OK, HC is 0-2 against American this year, but IMO the old saying that "it is very hard to beat a team three times in one season" is true more often than not.

I saw an article that said the NFL team that had won the first two times in the regular season also won the third time in an NFL playoff game 67% of the time. That was as of 2019 and represented 21 games. Didn’t see any data for college basketball but I don’t think the old saying necessarily holds water.

This is an unfavorable match-up for us. A game we can win, but not easy by any measure

Wondering if students will show up and actually make some noise. Hope springs eternal but I am prepared to be disappointed.

I would doubt that many of yesterday’s attendees are going to be rushing back to Hart to watch this team play.

Holy Cross hasn't beaten American in four years, and the Eagles have inflicted some of the worst losses the Crusaders have suffered recently in league play - the second-half meltdown in the 2014 PLT, the embarrassing 20-point Senior Day loss in 2019, the 43-point loss at home a year after that.
Not optimistic.

I thought that the saying was “it is very hard to beat a Good team three times.”

no, it is "the same team three times" but I do get your point. American could very well make this game a bloodbath. I certainly do not predict that, but we'll see.

There are a number of sites on the internet that address this issue of beating a team three times. My analysis is that if you ask, before any of the three games are played, "will team A beat Team B three times?" I would agree that is difficult to do. If, however, it's the third game of the series, and Team A has already won twice, then it is not difficult for Team A to win a third game. Let me illustrate with another example: Is it difficult for a basketball player, say Steph Curry, to make 10 free throws in a row? I'd say it is and before he took the first shot I'd bet against him making 10 in a row. However, if it is late in the game and he had made 9 in a row I'd still bet heavily on him making that 10th shot.

A loss would make the final season record of 9-22 (yes, with 2 D3 teams, I'm including); preceded by 5-11 season; preceded by 3-29 season. That'd be a 17-62 (21.5%) career record for Nelson.
If it's a close loss, that's one thing. If its another rout, I have to think Kit has to at least consider a change.

Where is Coach Nelson's PR guy--he has not checked in for some time on any of these threads, has he?

That said, I will be very disappointed with a playin loss on our home court. Go Cross!

Time to unleash the Kraken....Oh! I mean....Austin Lewis who will be the secret weapon for the playoffs with his blocks and three point shooting.
We can only wish that this scenario will play out and surprise the opponent in their game planning. Time for Nelson to throw in some surprises.

Tournament games are rarely blowouts, and you'll be at home. But I will say HC almost certainly provides our best possible chance to advance to the quarters. We got manhandled twice by Lafayette this year, having no answer whatsoever for Quinn, and we've almost never played well at Bucknell. AU is also playing better of late and had a very good performance in the regular season finale at home Saturday against Loyola. Johnny O'Neil played one of his best games of the season. Should be a good one.

"Just $12"?
A Herbie burger and a couple of pints are probably a better take.

Two game totals
2 POINT FIELD GOALS HC= 34/85=.400 AM U= 39/78=.500
3 POINT FIELD GOALS HC= 6/28= ,214 AM U= 6/21=.286
FREE THROWS HC= 17/24=.708 AM U= 31/42= .738
REBOUNDS HC= 70 AM U= 65
OFF REBOUND PERCENTAGE HC= 37% AM U= 30%
TURNOVERS HC=27 AM U=24
Can we shoot 45% on twos (have done so in 12 games) and 35% on threes (17 games) and have a chance to win this? I think we can
