Sometimes I see coaches give each player on the bench a towel. When a player subs in from the bench, he gives his towel to the gut he subs in for. All the players know they shouldn't be on the floor holding a towel The first coach I saw do this was at Western Conn...It was in a womens game, the coach had the incoming player hold the towel by both ends so the player coming off could grab the towel in the middle....This coach was really into "do it my way". Dead balls under their defending hoop she had the team get together at the top of the key and all face her to get the defense! Same thing in offense when it was their ball....It was all too much....

Solid win by UNC, but Baylor made some comeback.

Down 5 w/20 seconds left, Creighton guy had an uncontested layup...declined it and ran out to the corner to shoot a 3..missed. Not a good decision w/20 seconds to go.
Then w/4 Creighton guys on the blocks and 1 Kansas guy, the 4 Creighton guys don't know it's 1 and 1 and stand there like it's 2 shots. Shot missed, KU guy grabs the rebound.

Great for the little college (now university) in Jersey City! All hail St. Peter’s to the sweet 16!

As far as I can tell, no MAAC school (while they were in the MAAC) had made the Sweet 16.
The 8 teams that advanced yesterday came from 8 different conferences.

I can't remember the last time I've more looked forward to a non HC game that I am to St. Peter's next game. Really not that interested in the rest of the tournament (already).
Another thing I find interesting is reading other low major message boards when a peer school makes an unexpected run in the tourney. There always seems to be threads about "why can't we do what they're doing?".

Shaheen Holloway has coached an amazing 2 games. The confidence all 9-10 players exhibited was as much a factor as his high level offense and defense.

Jay Bilas' comment on the NC - Baylor game: "North Carolina and Baylor are playing a physical, tough, competitive game. But, it’s not basketball. It’s hockey and rugby. This has been happening all season, and needs to change." i totally agree - players (built like fullbacks) barreling down the lane initiating hard contact is not basketball - if refs called all the fouls there would be constant interruptions to the game and a parade of foul shots, so we have a problem

If refs called those obvious fouls from the start of the season, as they should be instructed to do, there would not be parades to the free throw line at the end of the season I cannot recall a worse reffed game than the UNC- Baylor one

I have to agree that if there are rules for the game, they need to be enforced from the first game. To do otherwise only hurts the game (and sometimes the players as well). It is simply not fair and provides most benefit to those who plan to break those same rules.

It seems Grandison's playing time has been reduced with the Illini....played only 9 minutes on Friday and I don't think he's been in yet today.
30-26 Houston at the H....bit of a rockfight.

Basketball has, is and always will be a physical sport.

Grandison had a shoulder injury; probably not healthy. Another early exit for them.

I watched him yesterday coming off the bench during a time out. Clearly left arm/shoulder injured. Not a DNP-CD, rather a DNP-injury.
Cubelo (sp?) must have stunk out the joint early in the game because he didn't play the second half. He wasn't very good on Friday either.

Holmgren was getting pushed around quite a bit on both ends in Gonzaga’s 4-point win last night. (His teammate Timme was MUCH more effective offensively.) NBA lottery teams doubtlessly took note and I’m wondering if he might slip out of the top-five (and MAYBE he’ll consider sticking around another year to gain weight and work on his already-good shooting.)

Being a Zags fan, I would like that, but the NBA often drafts for potential, overlooking some weaknesses. Chet will gain weight. I would be surprised if he was not a top 3 pick.

"It seems Grandison's playing time has been reduced with the Illini....played only 9 minutes on Friday and I don't think he's been in yet today." ...and this is to matter to us because...? Clutching at straws I'll take a stab at answering your question: the chance of our school name being mentioned on national TV increases with each minute our former player plays.🙂
