As frustrating as last night was, I don't think we should forget our board tradition of saluting our departing players as they finish up their basketball careers at HC.
For Malcolm, his injury was a big loss imho as he had really become a glue player in my eyes. He could do a little bit of everything, and not having him down the stretch was a real hit to the rotation. Hope he can recover 100% from his injury, and hook on somewhere if he wants to play another year.
And D.J. - talk about dedication to the program. Really appreciated all the blood, sweat and tears he gave, for no reward. Just really sad that he was not able to get into the Army game.
Best of luck, guys!

I feel bad for DJ Hart. But as someone pointed out, prior to Nelson, it's not like other coaches at Holy Cross bent over backwards to get senior walk-ons (or senior scholarship bench players) into their final home game. How often and do what extent does it happen at other schools? And in other sports?
This is NCAA Division I, not high school. That being said, I would personally air on the side of getting these guys on the court for their final home game, even if just for a token start and a couple of minutes of burn at the start of the game. But I'm not getting paid 350K to run a DI program.

If Gates decides to enter the portal and pursue grad school for his final year of eligibility, here's reminder to add him to the "thank you and best of luck". Best transfer we've had since... Last impact transfer we had was Mike Cavataio, and I guess Sankes prior to that.

For the next three years HC will be at a distinct disadvantage in transfer appeal as players will have four years here as opposed to five years at most D-1 schools.

The rule will put us at a disadvantage in football as well, where that extra year means so much when it comes to physical maturity.

Agree, but a fifth year in FB costs a player a one semester delay in getting on with his life as opposed to a full year in BB.

True, but the allure of getting a year of grad school paid for somewhere else still puts us at a disadvantage compared to other FCS schools.
