Good point...A wind turbine there could play havoc with birds flying over Mt St James.

I was wondering why Holy Name HS (named after one of the Popes now as it houses the combined remaining Diocesean high schools in Worcester) had pheasant and duck on the lunch menu.🙂

Holy Name robbed St. Peter to create St. Paul. Good one. I got it mixed up with the Springfield Diocese that merged it's two Catholic High Schools near Springfield to form Pope Francis HS. That name of a Jesuit Pope might not be the first choice of Bishop McManus in Worcester.

The Hogan webcam shows a large rectangle of non grass. Does anyone know what is going on ? Just looked at the Hogan cam. The entire Ho-val has been dug up. Does anyone know what’s happening here? Are they just prepping for sod and a sprinkler system?

I am sure they are simply going to put the Hoval back the way it was before the Reunion tents were placed there.
My 7 year old grandson watches the webcams daily and while we thought they would simply Sod or re-seed the large rectanglular area that was wrecked, they apparently decided to re-do the entire Hoval likely to have the whole area matching.
He’s intrigued by the new dorm construction so I promised to take him up because he wants to go in the Jo too.

I am sure they are simply going to put the Hoval back the way it was before the Reunion tents were placed there. My 10 year old grandson watches the webcams daily and while we thought they would simply Sod or re-seed the large rectanglular area that was wrecked, they apparently decided to re-do the entire Hoval likely to have the whole area matching. He’s intrigued by the new dorm construction so I promised to take him up because he wants to go in the Jo too. I think this is the end of tents on the Hoval. The PCPA has at least one large room that can serve as function space: the dance studio with terrace that can be seen on the webcam. And the PCPA parking lot, on the east side of the PCPA, can also serve as the location of a temporary tent in the future.

I hope you are right, Phreek.
I really have to wait later in the day to post to ensure I am fully awake. Had to edit my post above as I realized I “aged” my grandson 3 years! He’s only 7 and his sister is 10 (they both seem older to me). 🤷🏻♂️
And my wife and I keep calling our grand puppy by the name of our long deceased beloved dog’s name and they look nothing alike.
Memo to the youngsters here: fight aging as hard as you can!😂

Holy Name robbed St. Peter to create St. Paul. More like Holy Name was competently run and perceived as too liberal so the bishop merged the declining enrollment of SPM to make a new school so as to have an excuse fire HN administrators he did not like.

A few years ago my Catholic HS emailed it was closing at the end of the school year which was only a few weeks away. They only had 12 confirmed with deposit members of the next freshman class. They announced a fundraising drive to pay faculty and staff in full as the next year tuition deposits had been used for prior year salaries over the summer the last few years. That took any hint of politics out of it.
The Boston archdiocese had spun the school off into a private non-profit after the Priest Abuse scandal but still owned the building. When I attended the "goodbye party" at the school it looked worn and tired. They kept it safe and sound but had no money to keep it fresh and sparkling like HC does with it's buildings. The last Sister of St. Joseph, the Principal, had retired a few years earlier I believe. I don't think there were any Religious working there anymore.
But the current students who attended were full of spirit and proud of their school as they should be. For everything there is a season.

I notice the Athletic Director's last name is Manzello, any relation to the late sports writer? Was he there previously?

I trust they got the money from somewhere as there was no local outrage about teachers not getting paid for work they already did. One former teacher there went to work at Cathedral HS in Boston before finally hanging it up at age 70. He really had to love teaching to put up with driving to Boston from Metro West every day.

Are you referring to Marian High School?

Are you referring to Marian High School? Yes. In their last few years they had a decent amount of international students, mostly Chinese from photos in the quarterly magazine, and several faculty members who had retired from public high schools. But those factors couldn't outweigh the high quality and numerous options of public schools in the area, imo.

MHS was hovering around 50 kids a class...then in spring 2018 the bottom fell out, as longsuffering said, only a quarter of that was committed to start in 2018-19.
My daughter almost went there, would have been in the last graduating class.

My daughter almost went there, would have been in the last graduating class. All three of my sons went to Marian. It was kind of a no frills education but it worked well for them (and many other people). All three met lifelong friends there. To this day my law office is right across the street. Anyone know what they're doing with the building?

Doesn't seem like they've done a thing to the building (unless they're doing the inside first), must still be fund raising.
Just remembered that the first place I saw Buddy Venne play was in that tiny gym.

Glad to hear the purge (at least a purge in the opinion of highered) didn't affect their sports program and a highly thought of person running same.

Bucknell is building four new residence halls, 280 beds total. As Sustainability seems to be of great interest to some: More info if anyone is interested. www.bucknell.edu/news/bucknell-construct-new-west-campus-apartment-style-residence-hallsThese new residence halls are being built on the site of existing residence 'halls' that are 50 years old. I was surprised that Bucknell was demolishing buildings that were only 50 years old, until I saw this photo of one.

Reminds me greatly of the famous/infamous BC Mods....only difference is the flora and fauna versus the view of Alumni Stadium, Flynn Rec Center and an asphalt jungle.
