Scored two power plays goals in the 2nd mere seconds apart — the first in a 5-3 advantage and second in 5-4 advantage

Senior forward Alex Peterson will play his final season of collegiate hockey at UMass-Lowell next year. 5 goals and 14 assists this season. Frosh defenseman Jonathan Balah, who appeared in 19 games this year, is in the portal. Seniors Hale, Young and Constable all in the portal and will presumably graduate and play next year as grad transfers.

I am never bothered by those who elect to play their 5th (or 6th) year at another institution after graduating from HC. I wish Peterson, Hale, Constable, and Young the best next season. One question burning in my brain right now...how did Ches retain so many 5th years (obviously not 6th years) whereas other programs see the 5th years go? Is it coaching and team building? Or does it have to do with enrollment and semesters? (ie. someone takes the Spring season of their senior year off from academics, which could be done in football but not hockey or hoops?).

The success of the football program is reason 1, and the fact that hockey spans 2 semesters while football is only 1, is reason no.2

I believe it is a great opportunity for hockey players to continue to play and receive a Maters, MBA, etc. Also, as mentioned, hockey is almost two full semesters and therefore probably impossible to continue academically.

Agreed. Hopefully our program gets to the point where Big 10, NCHC and Hockey East schools want our grad transfers.

A lot of transfer portal activity. It appears HC, Air Force and Army are not participating yet. A little disappointing after this past season. While I know we only have 1 returning player in the portal, maybe the coaching staff is satisfied with the incoming class. Riga has brought in 4 transfers that have made a huge impact, and that should continue. A couple of the interesting names: Reid Leibold, Ryan’s younger brother and Grant Porter, a former HC verbal commit that sat the bench at PC this year.

Nick Hale to Ferris St. They must like our Captains as they took Matt Slick the previous year.
Grant Porter, who I mentioned above, is transferring to Canisius.
Still no activity from HC. And still only 1 returning player in the portal.

A couple of notes from Mike McMahon:
- Michael Hodge, sophomore, from Union is transferring to HC. Looks like he had a decent freshman year but not much last year as a sophomore. Smaller, but fast player. - Eric Sorenson. Assistant Coach, is taking a job at UMass Lowell, so an opening on the coaching staff. - Liam McLinskey is participating in the Detroit Red Wings development camp.

Another Union player is transferring to HC, Nic Petruolo (D) is coming in as a junior, per Mike McMahon. Played in 28 games with 7 assists last year. 6’2” and close to 200lbs.

I didn't say anything about the kid's ability but shows you how much stronger that Quinnipiac is that the Atlantic Hockey player of the year was only good enough to play two games for the national champion.

According to Mike McMahon, Ricketts to Quinnipiac.
RIT’s best forward and starting goalie enter the portal.

Ricketts will be a very good pickup for Q or other top program as a 3rd-4th line center/forward.

Michael Abgrall from Nebraska Omaha is coming to HC as a junior. Only 3 assists this past season as a sophomore. Hopefully, he will be more productive in Atlantic Hockey.

3 more graduating seniors have found new homes:
Jake Higgins, Northeastern Matt Guerra, SHU Tyler Ghiradosi, SHU
Was hoping Matt and Tyler could have found a spot outside of Atlantic Hockey.
