Another example of Villanova’s rise in athletics with no sacrifice of their academic standing - we know about their men’s team but now their Women’s team ended UConn’s 145 game regular season league win streak and today they upset BYU in the Women’s tourney 61-57 They now play the Michigan - AU winner

AU getting embarrassed vs Michigan - 29-10 with 4 minutes left in the half - they’ve scored 2 points in the last 11 minutes

39-13 at the half All the talk about ‘equality’ between the mens and Women’s tourney is fine except for the ‘hosting’ that the top 4 seeds get in each region - if the ladies want the same, then move the tourney to neutral sites throughout

That results in very empty gyms

That results in very empty gyms Yes, VERY empty gyms. The NCAA is unwilling to lose that much money.

Then they shouldn’t insist on equality across the board - is their game worthy ? You’ll never see the early upsets and there should not be clear advantages - that’s not a fair tourney

AU lost 74-39 - to indicate what a one-sided game it was, there was only one timeout used in the entire game - the Eagles played hard and were just outclassed Princeton, an 11 seed is leading SEC champ Kentucky by 4 starting the 4th qtr

Wish we could have repped the PL better. Couldn't do anything with their size, and picked an especially bad day to go 1 of 21 (!!!!) on threes. Naz Hillmon is a pro.
And Princeton (11) just knocked off Kentucky (6). Parity is getting better in women's basketball. And they had a real good crowd today at Michigan. Not filled, but close.

Next up for Princeton is Indiana. If it wins that, Carla Berube's team will likely face Connecticut.
Is she the leading heir apparent?

Princeton has 16 players on their roster, including 5 over 6’2”.

That results in very empty gyms The NCAA could integrate the tournament with each round having exactly the same amount of men's and women's games at each site. Tickets must be bought for multiple games as it is so that would mitigate low attendance while eliminating the current advantage of "home" women's teams. That would necessitate more first/second round arenas giving smaller venues like the DCU Center more chances to participate.

Shea Ralph may well get into that conversation, and perhaps an outsider or two. Having said that, I'm not sure Berube would even want to interview for that job. She turned down multiple chances at D1 jobs during her 17 very successful years at Tufts. She evaluated jobs mostly by her comfort level with the school, the community, and the job. She seems to be very happy at Princeton and might well opt to stay there. Far less pressure and likely a job for life.

That’s not really an issue unless Auriemma suddenly develops health issues. Indications are that he will not be retiring for at least four or five years.

that's a 10 seed winning in front of 15000 Iowa (2 seed) fans - they held down Caitlin Clark to 15 points on 4 of 19 shooting - what a performance

Another example of Villanova’s rise in athletics with no sacrifice of their academic standing - we know about their men’s team but now their Women’s team ended UConn’s 145 game regular season league win streak and today they upset BYU in the Women’s tourney 61-57 They now play the Michigan - AU winner Girl from Norwood is going there, Megan Olbrys. 6-0 or 6-1 something like that. Not a polished player at this point, let's see how long before she sees action in college at that level.

Great game last night- Paige Bueckers just kept popping in medium range jumper after jumper. Something that's been missing from a lot of the men's games- the ability to convert open looks. Most of my brackets were killed by teams that missed open shot after open shot, basically buckling under the pressure of one-and-done games.

Not a polished player at this point, let's see how long before she sees action in college at that level. One of Villanova's starters - Olivia Mullin, niece of Chris - had originally signed with Bucknell, but decommitted after Aaron Roussell left for Richmond. Nova has become much stronger since Harry Perretta, a very mediocre coach, finally retired after about four decades. Denise Dillon, the very successful coach for years at Drexel, has been a major upgrade. Nova figures to be a very tough team in the future.

Most of my brackets were killed by teams that missed open shot after open shot, basically buckling under the pressure of one-and-done games. Bueckers was incredible at the end of regulation and the overtimes. Announcer Lobo told a story that when Geno was recruiting Paige, he said she would be the next Taurasi. So far, he is correct.
