Ahh yes, the nomenclature game... HC will never publicly speak down on any of their 27 varsity programs. Can't have a parent be offended if any allusion to that varsity program not being seen as Division 1 and high quality exists. I'm fascinated to continue watching from afar on how this new AD approaches the giant elephant in the room with HC Athletics: Far too many programs, far too little resources, not his strategic plan.

Maybe it is just two programs we have to drop. I know you are interested in hockey from your prior posts and I am not trying to be a wise ass, but do you think that we could support the other sports at a PL level if we dropped men's and women's hockey? After all, the only PLers who play hockey are Army (unlimited resources) BU (no football) and Colgate--a lot like us and suffering in many sports because of it. We are approaching 36 hockey scholarships, two coaching staffs and the cost of operating a rink. Allot those scholarships over a variety of sports, use the salaries to increase pay for coaches across the board, and spend the electricity savings on whatever you want. I like hockey a lot, but after thinking about what PP posted the other day, I am coming to the conclusion that hockey is what is keeping us in the bottom third of the PL instead of the top third.

Actually Ribaud has done a decent job with the womens program - most of the girls shoot in the low 80's and have shot in the 70's quite a bit - it wasn't that long ago that we put a team out there with girls who could not break 90 and often shot over 100 - maybe this program will continue an upward trend

If you think money is the reason for all the problems with performance at HC, you are woefully mistaken.

The rink isn't the moneymaker it used to be a few years ago due to the new rink downtown taking away youth programs and college teams.

I'm just commenting on "not his strategic plan." Didn't that plan read like a generic State of the Union address in that it touched every base and said the right thing about every aspect of the athletic department, with improvements scheduled across the board? In that sense it could have been authored by most any AD anywhere.
