Not a clear logic for this transfer that jumps out at you. She's from NH and with four seniors graduating, there will be minutes to compete for at HC. But still wish her well.

Steph moves up to a team that won a game in the NCAA tournament in March. I'm impressed. . . You shouldn’t be too impressed. The NCAA game that Longwood won was a play-in game which they earned due to being a weak team that won a very weak league. According to Massey, Longwood was ranked number 211 in the nation and the team that they beat, Mount St. Mary’s, was number 287. MSM was so bad that they lost to Loyola, the Patriot League’s worst team, during the regular season. This is definitely not a step up, as Longwood was worse this year than the patriot league’s top five teams.

Might be an apples to oranges comparison but here's a comparison of what we lost with Steph leaving and Callie coming in:
Appears both would be juniors. Steph listed as 6'0" guard (nice size for a guard for HC); Callie is listed as a 6'1" forward (we gain 1").
Steph played (17 games total) 4.8 MPG .333 on FGs 0/1 from 3 .500 FTs (1 for 2) 1.2 RPG 13 TOs 6 assists 3 steals
Callie listed last season (only got in 6 games) but 3.7 MPG: .500 FGs (3 for 6) .333 from 3 (1 for 3) .500 (1 for 2) .2 RPG 4 TOs 1 assist 0 steals
Statistically seems a wash to me but an argument could be made that Callie played against tougher competition.

That would be a winning argument, sader. I think it's an upgrade for us.

This is definitely not a step up, as Longwood was worse this year than the patriot league’s top five teams. I'm still impressed. Steph had one of the weakest resumes you could offer to the D-1 universe, but she still believed and put $150,000 of remaining scholarship at risk to bet on herself and ended up on the roster of an NCAA team. I chose to say move up because Longwood and HC both reached for the brass ring last season and Longwood got it done, not because I think Longwood is a better place to go to school or play BB than HC. But as much as I loved the '21-22 Crusaders and feel they overachieved, they got bounced in the first round of league playoffs and went 0-1 in the NIT not 1-1 in the NCAA like Longwood. Those numeric national rankings are great but when do you ever hear a coach or player say the goal for this year's team is to improve thirty places in the Massey rankings? It wasn't me who made getting an invite to the Big Dance the measuring stick in college basketball, the industry did it themselves. But I'm mostly impressed with how she bet on herself and succeeded. I had doubts, she didn't.

Sophie Haydon played in 14 games for an average of 7.6 mpg as a Frosh post player at GW. Good height and length which can always be helpful. Haydon commits to South Dakota - guess she's another one who was looking to be closer to home and to a team that was very good last year, 29-6 with a win over Baylor in the tournament final ranking of # 25 by Massey.

Interesting Player who just entered the portal Ally Carmen 6'5 from BC, didn't play very much, but was a very successful HS player at Red Bank Catholic in NJ. Good friends w/ Donnelly, Cahalan, Munt & incoming Frosh Bachmann.

Bit of a shocker, wasn't aware of any significant unhappiness with the coach. Collins may have been their best player. Missed a bunch of games due to injury.

"Can we, can we all get along?" -Rodney King I suppose everything is relative but a four year full scholarship to a PL school is much better treatment than Rodney King got courtesy of the LAPD. Every player should have their full freedom of speech, freedom to transfer, etc., but it makes you wonder how many lawns are greener than a full WBB scholarship to any of the fine institutions in the PL. If they can academically transfer to an IL school or athletically to a major conference school, that is one thing but to transfer to a similar profile school just in the hope the basketball experience will be better is worth long hard examination before pulling the trigger, imo.

Keep in mind, we really don't know the why,or the where . She can play and will not lack in new opportunities.

Wish her the best wherever she plays. I didn't think of NIL in my post. I don't think it's that strong in WBB yet, but that would also be a legitimate factor in any decision to join or leave a PL school, unfortunately.

Another Bucknell player has entered the transfer portal, Remi Sisselman another Sophomore and contributor. Announced on her Twitter.
Jstill may be onto something with head coach issues. Maybe more going on?

Maybe more going on? What is the role of an AD immediately after two players enter the portal while they are currently enrolled and right on campus? I am an advocate of a pro-student-athlete AD as opposed to a pro-coach AD in an instance such as this but don't know if any NCAA regulations govern interactions between the different parties once a student enters the portal.

The statements by the two portal entrants paints Bucknell as a very fine junior college that gave them the best two years of their lives.

From watching the Bucknell WBB games this year, and listening to post games interviews with Coach Woodruff, there seemed to a lack of chemistry between him, the staff and the players. He did not seem to display any emotional warmth with his team.
