Off topic. FWIW Most everything I read about HC for 2022 is extremely positive. "Elite," "rigorous," "great student body." "one of the very top colleges in America." "coveted top 5%," and on and on. There are challenges regarding diversity, drinking, etc. But, HC seems to be recognized as a truly great school. And, according to the cognoscenti on this board the school under the leadership of President Rougeau is all set to take off like a rocket and reach even greater heights. Colgate, BC, Fordham, BU, Fairfield, Providence, Northeastern, St. Joe's, Fordham, Iona, College of St. Rose, Sacred Heart, Villanova, LeMoyne, Marist, all great schools most of which are frequently mentioned in these parts and the rest are not determinative. We are the closest college to the first rocket launch up the street in Auburn now that you mention it.

And much competition from both the LACs in our area (NESCAC types) that are in our USNWR category and the comprehensive Universities in the area (BU, BC, NU) that are in our other category: D-1 institutions. But PVR has a plan. The plan doesn't include HC exiting either the LAC category or the D-1 category, but taking on stronger opponents and surpassing them on both fronts. There is no other path to choose. HC is in the oddball position of being ranked amongst the LACs (USN&WR) while our actual competitors for quality applicants are actually non-LACs (BC, Fordham, Providence College, etc.). We don’t have a significant application overlap with the secular NESCAC schools. We don’t generally compete with them for students. Why would we? This HC info perfectly demonstrates our oddball position. The kids who apply to HC are simply not applying to LACs. www.holycross.edu/sites/default/files/AdminFinance/adminfin/ir/comparison_lists.pdf
