Perhaps they're doing it on one of the reunion weekends? I assume those are on as scheduled; would be kind of a sick joke if they couldn't hold them because of another wave. It is being dedicated during the 60th Reunion of Fauci's class. I believe that is also the weekend for the 65th Reunion, the 55th reunion, the 45th reunion, and the 40th Reunion. The 50th has has a reunion weekend for the classes of 1970, 71, and 72. I know there are three year reunions for some other classes as well, but not for the geriatric classes.

Who should be invited to the dedication ceremony? I provided the names of two distinguished physican alums. It might be interesting to go bigger. The President or Vice P? The current or previous head of the CDC who recently retired? The head of WHO? A rep from the gay leadership for his work on AIDS. Other AIDS researchers? African leaders involved with the ebola epidemic? The Headmaster of Regis? Dr. Chu Chu?And the list is unending for Dr. Fauci, the most honored epidemiologist researcher in the world. And, of course, Ralph Edwards for "This Is Your Life, Tony Fauci." All great ideas, mm67!

It is also possible they may videoscreen remarks by individuals who are not present. The attendance, and invitees, may turn on how much this occasion is seen as an occasion to honor Fauci as he departs the public arena.

Back in the day Ralph Edwards hosted the TV show "This Is Your Life." There is a funny vid online of Sid Caesar, Carl Reiner & co, doing a parody of the show. This site provides a welcome relief from the pain & tears of Ukraine. Hard for me not to hate.

My hunch is this is a 'big' event, rather than a 'small' event. Big is a relative term, of course, but announcing the naming 8+ weeks in advance suggests the announcement timing was keyed to securing the attendance of invitees, whomever they might be. The announcement today said further details to come. This suggests that the details are rather complex, and not those of a simple ceremony unveiling the new name at 2 PM, with remarks by Rougeau and Fauci.
I will not hazard a guess on whether they're might be a philanthropic gift associated with the naming of the complex.

I don't see Fauci as someone who will fight to stay in the limelight. He served his country for decades, was in the national spotlight for almost 2 years but will likely fade into the sunset while continuing to quietly serve and constibute to the scientific community.

The New York Times Holy Cross is renaming its science complex for Fauci.

Fauci’s name to its Integrated Science Complex.Credit...Wangkun Jia/Alamy By Claire Fahy April 4, 2022, 1:53 p.m. ET The College of the Holy Cross is renaming the science buildings on its campus in Worcester, Mass., in honor of one of its most famous graduates, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci.
The college announced on Monday that its science complex will be formally known as the Anthony S. Fauci Integrated Science Complex starting on June 11, a date that coincides with Dr. Fauci’s 60th class reunion weekend.
Holy Cross confirmed on Monday that Dr. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and President Biden’s top medical adviser on the coronavirus pandemic, will be on campus for the reunion. The National Institutes of Health did not immediately respond to a request for comment. ADVERTISEMENT Continue reading the main story
“We are thrilled to celebrate Dr. Fauci in such a public and enduring way,” the president of Holy Cross, Vincent D. Rougeau, said in a statement. “It’s fitting that Dr. Fauci’s name will adorn a complex designed to foster integrated learning across multiple academic disciplines — the kind of broad, collaborative and holistic thinking one needs to manage health crises such as H.I.V./AIDS, Ebola and Zika, or the current Covid-19 pandemic.”
Dr. Fauci graduated from Holy Cross in 1962 as a classics major with a premedical concentration. He spoke to Holy Cross Magazine in 2021 about how the school’s Jesuit education had influenced his career advising presidents.
“One of the things I learned the first time I ever briefed a president, President Ronald Reagan, is that you have to make a decision when you’re speaking truth to power that you should not be concerned about wanting to be liked,” he said. “Because once you start entering that into your equation, you might, subconsciously, slip into the situation where you tell somebody what you think they want to hear. And that is not truth. So fundamental adherence to truthful principles — that you learn with a Jesuit education — really fortifies you.”
Dr. Fauci delivered a virtual address during Holy Cross’s 2020 commencement ceremony, where he again referred to his Jesuit education.
“Permeating the entire experience was the Jesuit spirit of intellectual rigor,” he said. “Precision of thought and economy of expression are tenets that have remained my touchstones to this day.”

The Bishop may not make the A list for the event. He can slow down on Rte. 290 and crank his neck to catch a glimpse as his Seminarian driver swerves to avoid a tractor trailer.

I know recently some pundits have pointed to the fact that he's due to receive the largest federal pension in US history upon retirement, and cry nepotism. Wait a second! The guy is 81 years old and still working!!!

Dr. Fauci is working for somewhere around minimum wage. All he is costing the federal government is the difference between what they would have to pay him in pension out of the pension bucket if he was retired and what they have to pay him out of the salary bucket while he is working.
Dr. Fauci could make a killing if he retired, took his pension and then took a position at a TV network as a chief medical correspondent and gave speeches, consulted, wrote a book, etc. You know, like all the Generals do.
Instead he works for you and me for pennies on the dollar. A Jesuit influenced person for others.

Dr. Fauci is making more than the President. I believe he is the highest paid government official. He also holds positions in private ventures. He should be in a prominent position to make a significant gift to alma mater....

Dr. Fauci is making more than the President. I believe he is the highest paid government official. He also holds positions in private ventures. He should be in a prominent position to make a significant gift to alma mater.... Fauci is the highest paid official in the government. Part of this is due to his being a physician (and thus paid more) and much of it is due to his longevity. He very likely is in what is called the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS), which is a defined benefit retirement. The CSRS was closed to new government employees during early Reagan, but those who were already in the system had the option of remaining in CSRS or shifting to what is known as FERS, the Federal Employee Retirement System, which is a defined contribution system. I am unaware that he holds positions in private ventures. He is editor of a medical textbook, and is compensated for that by the publisher McGraw Hill. When he retires, his annual Federal retirement income will be $350,000, or thereabouts, he has long maxed out on retirement, which occurs after 40 years of service. He has 55 years of Federal service. Harrison's Internal medicine, of which Fauci is an enditor. www.amazon.com/Harrisons-Principles-Internal-Medicine-Twenty-First/dp/1264268505/ref=asc_df_1264268505/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=564725475526&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6940637473131766416&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9061285&hvtargid=pla-1577088202440&psc=1

Great read. But if Dr. Fauci or his wife had done anything wrong they both would be tarred and feathered. He's always one breath away from being assassinated so these critical articles about him are fine in a transparent democracy, but since most people know he and his family need 24 hour security because of constant death threats, I hope people aren't writing them just for partisan sport.

The top pay for a practicing physician in the Federal government (Veterans Administration) is $350,000. Fauci is also double-hatted as the head of a large institute at NIH, so he is compensated for that as well. Little different than HC paying RW to be a basketball coach, and paying him above that to be an associate (assistant?) director of athletics.
As the Forbes analysis clearly indicates, he does not receive any compensation for "holding positions in private ventures". His stock holdings are in funds, not in individual companies.
David Rubenstein, a billionaire philanthropist and a co-founder of the Carlyle Group (private equity), twice offered Fauci a position in Carlyle, but Fauci declined. I recall Rubenstein saying Fauci would have made a whole lot more money at Carlyle than he could ever make at NIH.
Glenn Youngkin, the current governor of Virginia, made $300 million at Carlyle during his tenure as a top executive.
