Photos of the new Diller Scofidio + Renfro designed PAC were shown Friday night on the Intrepid. Not sure I've seen those before. Looks to be a spectacular addition to the upper campus

I am in PC and had my tickets for the Intrepid but missed the event on account of a cold my wife and I have. In addition to feeling miserable, decided not to share the misery with others, except at the actual game and then the misery of my cold was forgotten after experiencing the misery of the play on the field. I, too, would like to see what I missed, you know, being an "investor" and all that.

Oh, so now we have a two tier alumni association. The haves and the have nots. I was First VP of the HC Club of Boston till I moved out of MA and was Editor of their Crossroads Club Newspaper. There are more than one way to contribute. Your Prez Council smugness is not attractive.

There's a thin line between cow towing to the deep pockets and disrespecting all the others. Re: "deep pockets": donating to charities is not a question of capacity, it's more an indication of gratitude and generosity Also, it looks like your autocorrect feature made a mistake as of course you know that "cow towing" means hauling livestock to market while "kowtowing" means being subservient to authority.

KY- You say "donating to charities is not a question of capacity." Really? Are you that unaware of the world around you? P.S. Thanks for your English language correction. I try to be careful about that. sader1970- If you parable was aimed at me, please know that I do donate to charities, sometimes money and sometimes services. For example, on Thanksgiving I will be playing a concert with the orchestra I'm in at the local Salvation Army Center dinner for the homeless, etc.

Sarasota, I am guessing KY does not mean how much you give, which is undoubtedly partly by what your capacity is but whether you give anything or nothing is NOT a matter of capacity as my joke posted above demonstrates.

HC has emailed a link to a slideshow of 200+ photographs taken at the reception on the Intrepid for the President's Council. None of the 200+ have a photo that captures what I assume were renderings of the PAC that were part of a Powerpoint(?) presentation.

Well, you edited your post to add this and I just now saw it.
No, it wasn't directed at you specifically and it wasn't a "parable" (that would be a religious term that I would think you would find offensive but know you were just trying to be nice to me), just as joke that as Class Chair I shared with my Classmates years ago and I just think is hilarious and it also isn't meant as a special "dig" against lawyers as it could apply to anyone who happens to be rich, self-centered and cheap. And there are a lot of those people around.
Very happy that you donate your time, talents and treasure to worthy causes as you have indicated previously you do to St. Benedict's.
My one and only point to you has been consistent. Feel free to debate how much and where money and services are spent where you make a contribution, like St. Ben's, Salvation Army, etc. but if you have no skin in the game, how would you like it if we all started complaining about how much and where St. Benedict's spends their money? I know there are one or more St. Benedict alums besides you on this board.
Feel free to comment, complain or bitch and moan about Holy Cross and its athletic teams on the field or the quality of the coaches and game plans. That doesn't directly involve money. And, no, I can't stop you from writing whatever you want because you think as an HC alum, you have a "right" to talk about how Holy Cross spends its money. You may have a right, I just don't feel it is appropriate.

sader1970- I place more value on being a Son of Alma Mater (regardless of financial support) than you do. Your kind of thinking has seeped into other places in our culture, but we're not allowed to talk about that.

Frankly, I think that the announcement on the Intrepid of the 90 million dollar PAC was met with subdued enthusiasm. $90 million? It was $65 million. That said, the value of the Luth construction in the city permits is $72 million, not $95 million.

Not positive, but I think both figures are correct. There are 6 Priorities in the current capital campaign and one of them is to raise $95 million to "Inspire Creative Teaching and Learning." The PAC is part of that priority, so $65 million for the building and another $30 million for the other things in the priority like programs through the Ciocca Office of Entrepreneurial Studies and a New York semester for students interested in finance, international relations, or the arts. www.holycross.edu/becomemore/campaign-priorities/inspiring-creative-teaching-and-learning
