Care more about improving the atrocious product on the court than soft seats for the 200 people a game who'll be at the Hart this winter.

Do the players really care if the seating has backs? Maybe if they have to listen to parents or grandparents complain. I just don't see how that affects the players at all. To me, chairbacks are more something fans can comment about when determining D-I facilities.
I'm pretty sure if you win enough games to make people want to come to the games, the players won't be able to see if the stands have chairbacks or not

Win some games. Stop whining about the Hart arena. Bucknell is clearly better. Maybe Navy where I have never been but people seem to like. I have been to the rest in the PL and they are all in the same general ballpark imho. You can argue some are a little better if you want but not better enough to make a real difference in our ability to recruit and win. The practice court, locker rooms, meeting space, weight room, training spaces, coaches suite, etc are all very nice.

The discussion around facilities and a hindrance it may or may not have on a program should begin and end with what Langel has done at Colgate.

Sorry guys.Never made any connection between the subpar state of the Hart and recruiting. "Can't hurt" is certainly not making this connection. Wouldn't a better college level gym be desirable? No? It is a red herring to claim that a connection between recruiting and the gym was made. The connection was made by others in defense of the Hart as it is. None of those in a purple huff have differed about the factual description of the gym. IMO our gym is not up to the standard for basketball, our traditional marquee sport. Other colleges may have crappy HS gyms also but those schools do not have the glorious history or tradition of HC basketball. Basketball has meant more to HC than to most colleges in this beautiful nation. Good gym, lousy gym, a successful team is paramount. Actually, the'47 NCAA champions had no gym and practiced in a tiny"barn." As I wrote if HC puts an exciting, good team on the floor the students will come and once again the Hart will be a hotbed. George and Ralph had no trouble putting a good product on the same floor in the tired old Hart that obviously wasn't as good a facility that it is now.
To bitch about the building is foolish, because the problems with the MBB program sure aren't the building.

Obviously, it would be foolish to claim that the problems with MBB are due to a subpar Hart. In fact HC has had fine successful teams playing in the Hart. However it would be inaccurate to claim that all who dislike the Hart are placing blame for the lousy teams on the gym. Some do create their own personal spin unrelated to the reality of what was written.
