I watched the spring game. Very competitive action on both sides of the ball. My biggest takeaway was the amount of quality depth we have on the current roster, particularly at WR and DB. When the starters were out, the drop off for the second and third units was not as noticeable as I would have expected. This bodes well for the future, especially with 37 seniors and super seniors on the current roster. Our rising sophomore and junior classes should be able to keep the momentum of the program going into the foreseeable future. Any observations on probable backup QB Joe Pesansky’s performance?

Opened for camp in August 2009. Its also our lacrosse stadium. M/W lax previously played on the Hart Turf Field which is currently still the home for our Track & Field teams as well as Field Hockey. Hope the move by the M/W lax teams to a renovated with increase seating of the Smith Stadium will occur with the next round of campus athletic construction for the softball stadium. Looking forward to seeing a 3,000 seat venue, with Turf for both Lax and Soccer. Has a timeline been established beyond previously noted in FADMB Strategic Plan?

The phrase "plenty of good seats still available" is going to get worn out on the website.

I heard from a primary source that Sluka and Pesansky’s improved passing/consistency was one of the highlights of the spring.

Reconstruction of the field hockey field and the outdoor track starts in about six weeks. No indication that the new field and expanded stadium for soccer / lacrosse starts this year. It was never planned that they would do all the fields concurrently, and the easiest one to do (other than a new rug for Fr. K. field, is the field hockey field and track. And even that will take 12 weeks because of the new plumbing to wet the field.

Who is our place kicker for the fall ? was there any field goal opportunities during the game ? Kevin Stone's observations--see the earlier posts- suggest that Jack Norris did a good job with the place kicking in the scrimmage. Another poster suggested we have a good incoming freshman as well.

Pesansky looked good. He has a very strong arm and was accurate and on time with almost all of his throws. I would say he would be a more than capable replacement for Sluka, who brings a different set of skills to the position based upon his running abilities. It will be interesting to see how that competition plays out, especially since Sluka has a 5th COVID year and I doubt Pesansky will want to sit for 3 years as the back-up.

Palenzuela is incoming K. He was pretty heavily recruited.
Great to hear on both QBs. Hopefully they are interchangeable where the D can’t anticipate what they are doing when they play. In other words when Pesansky comes in they just pin their ears back and blitz knowing HC won’t be running.

From what I understand Pesansky is a better overall athlete than Siderman so perhaps he could keep teams guessing a bit more. Very few quarterbacks in the country have Sluka’s running prowess.

Pesansky looked very comfortable making his way through his progressions. I believe he only had two throws that weren’t on target and on time. Sluka looked better, but still to many balls under thrown and behind receivers. This may not of been the best format to show off his skill set. That being said Pesansky was truly the more efficient QB of the day, getting the ball to all his weapons. Watching Sluka run, all I could think was he would probably be an All American running back. He is shifty!!!
