Didn't expect a win but hoped to keep it close. Irrelevance continues, probably forever. Love the PL.

I hate getting pummeled like that but take some consolation from the reports of viewers (I was following on the stats site) who said they saw some things they liked.......

My observations are as follows: Overall we got off to a great start. The Princeton offense was clicking on all cylinders. Then South Carolina slowed us down a bit and then South Carolina went into a zone which completely shut us down. Let's remember what some of the Patriot teams have done to us with a Zone. It's not a pretty sight. Individually Malachi and Champion did pretty well. They had a number of shots swatted by a huge front line of sc. Benzan and thompson did okay. Both look like they will be playing about 35 minutes per game. Karl Charles did not look to be in game shape but that will change as he gets more repetitions. I'm very disheartened with the play of the Matts. I'm also distressed about the fact Tyrone Cohen doesn't even get garbage minutes. Could dick konchalski have been wrong? Or is there something else going on? I think we will be ok once we get into the conference, but it's going to be a tough preseason.

I work in downtown Worcester. I spend a lot of time politicking for HC athletics. People think I'm nuts. They're right. I'm trying to get a crowd together to attend next Sunday. This game doesn't help. We'll probably lose by 40 to Syracuse.... Arg!!

If these games pay dividends later on, then the beatings will be worth it. With a real young team, I wouldn't want to see this, but I'm thinking (hoping) the guys will be able to handle this.

TOM Konchalski did not get it wrong. patience, please

Do not think long term you can have Thompson and Benzan in together as neither is really a 2 and both small.

Whenever there's talk of a freshman not being ready, or not being capable, I think of Kevin Hamilton, and his freshman year. And Roger Breslin and Billy Walker too.

I look for Ziggy to have more of an impact later on, and perhaps take some time from Ant and/or PB.

Malachi and RChamp played well. Neither are intimidated by anyone we play against and certainly not South Carolina. JF is still spotty and agree PB started well and then seemed to disappear. Afraid that AT still looks like last year and not his freshman year. I thought MH was serviceable. The PO had SC flummoxed initially with lots of easy lay-ups but as previously posted, they adapted and shut that down. KC did not play well at all but since he didn't play in the Assumption exhibition, this was his first game since last year and rusty.
With the game out of hand, I would have liked to see some more movement from the bench. I only recall LeSann taking one shot, a 3 that was all air.
Despite the big deficit, I am encouraged about the upcoming season.

Possibly, as KC gets more minutes, one of the shorter guards will lose some minutes

CLS had 2 3-ball attempts, first hit the rim
I thought we started in a 1-2-2, then the 1-3-1 to end the first half.

Much less effective obviously, and I wasn't able to recognize what they were doing, my guess 131

Re Thompson: How does a guard play 37 minutes on a team running the PO with only ONE assist? I watched him closely. He doesn't seem to even look to make back door passes. He plays the same way as in the past. In my opinion he is not coachable. With all the guards we have that could use minutes, why does Thompson get the most minutes on the team? He has never returned to his Frosh form. One assist, two turnovers, 37 minutes, few points. Also, we played a lot of 2-3 on D.

One thing that has perplexed me about AT is his propensity to dribble to a corner at the mid court line without being forced to do so by the defender.
As as short as he is, he now has effectively allowed his defender to reduce his options for movement as he cannot dribble back without committing a back court violation and cannot dribble left or right, depending on which corner he has chosen due to the out of bounds line. He cannot usually pass over the defender's head.
can someone explain this to me who is more knowledgable about the game?
Is is this by design? He did it a lot last year and did it again last night. To me, it would seem to limit his options.

sader1970- I noticed the very same thing about AT. That's something every high schooler learns not to do. He also on at least one occasion did his old thing of crashing into a trio of opponents at the rim who swat him away like a fly. It's a mystery to me why he plays more than anyone else on the team.

Didn't expect a win but hoped to keep it close. Irrelevance continues, probably forever. Love the PL. Rome wasn't built in a day. This team went 10-19 in the regular season. The March run was spurred by a resurgent defense and it seemed to me the difference maker was an incredibly court-aware Eric Green finally going full tilt after returning from his ACL injury. It might be asking a little much to be competitive with the big boys just yet. Just need to keep moving in the right direction

I'm very disheartened with the play of the Matts. I was on the radio so you can't appreciate everything, but I'm not sure what can be said about Matt Z based on about 3 meaningful minutes. A bigger question is what's going on in practice that had the major drop in minutes from freshman year
