His younger brother Mark was a HS classmate & friend. He attended ND. Sadly he was killed in a car crash in June '64. He was truly an extraordinary guy and wonderful friend. May he continue to rest in peace.

Crossed paths with Mac several times during the mid 1970’s. The first time was at the Connecticut Republican State Convention in July of 1974 when a good friend of mine was running for the Connecticut General Assembly that year. Mac was running for the US House.
Latter on our paths crossed at a couple of restaurants we both frequented. Always seemed cordial to a fellow HC Alum.

Congratulations to Judge Stango and Graff. They are following in the footsteps of the late Judge Maurice Sponzo, Judge Angelo Santinello, and Judge Richard Walsh. RIP.
Over the years there have been several more HC Alums who have served on the Connecticut bench, including several that are now either retired or still active.

At one time, the court in CT was full of HC alums, including the Chief Justice. Off the top of my head, McDonald, Santaniello, Walsh, Doherty, Dyer, Brown, Mottolese, Healey, Spallone, Curran Higgins, Shah, Blowie, White, Henebry, Moraghan, and I'm sure I missed more than a few! Higgins told me the story of how he made the baseball team. He was a left handed pitcher, not great, but made the team as a freshman because every team needs left handed pitching. He showed up late for practice the first week. Jack Berry was the coach, and said "Higgins, why are you late??" He explained that he had Greek Lab. Barry said - "It's either Greek lab or baseball, here, Higgins!" Higgins parents were paying his tuition, no scholarship. So, he chose Greek Lab and quit the team. That team won the National Championship!!!!

I didn't know Mac, but the story reminded me of some other larger-than-life attorneys I've crossed paths with during my legal career. They often had big hearts but most of the ones I knew ended up getting in trouble (tax evasion, drug problems, wire fraud) eventually. As a young lawyer I represented someone charged with dealing drugs. One of the flamboyant lawyers I knew represented the co-defendant. We were about to go into the courtroom for a hearing on a motion to suppress evidence. The other lawyer, sensing my nervousness, said, "Steve, don't worry about a thing, just sit back and enjoy the show."

Probably a language lab where they listen to audio tapes for correct pronunciations of words and phrases.
