The series with Milwaukee will be fun to watch. P.S. I did not use "Celtics" because it is a misnomer.

Or Boston Celtic (no s) if you want to emulate the Scottish football club.

And the correct pronunciation is with a hard, not soft, “C”.

Watch out for the NBA team representing the City of Boston. They are on a roll.

Or Boston Celtic (no s) if you want to emulate the Scottish football club. Not really a question of emulating. Celtic represents a singular culture, there is no plural; e.g., Hellenic, Germanic, etc.

Celts beat the Bucks, forcing game 7 in Boston. Tatum played well.

A unique season, for sure.
1. Team with the most wins gets blown out in Game 6 and blown out even worse (down 30 at the half and 50 in the second half before losing by 33) at home in Game 7. 2. Philly/NJ blockbuster trade ends up helping neither team. Trade triggered by one player shooting his way out of town and the other player simply not wanting to play at all. 3. The Lakers acquiring a number of Hall of Fame potential players and not making the playoffs at all. Of course, most of them were in their prime circa 2015. 4. The MVP going to a player on perhaps the worst playoff team out of the 16 that made it. The Coach of the Year going to the team that got blown out in the first round (see #1).

I've been a Celtics fan since the 1960's (which I guess makes me a "fossil", to use a pejorative about older people employed by a poster on another thread). It's incredibly hard to win an NBA championship. It takes a lot of talent, good chemistry, health (very important), and a little luck. I give Ime Udoka a lot of the credit for using tough love on these Celtics. Any of the four remaining teams are capable of winning it all.

Steven A got tonight right! Onto the finals after giving everyone in these parts a coronary down the stretch.

Cedric "Cornbread" Maxwell, 1981 NBA finals MVP and Celtics Radio color guy, just presented the first Bob Cousy Trophy to the Celtics and it was accepted by "Average Al" Horford and the first Larry Bird Trophy to the Eastern Conference Finals MVP Jason Tatum.
Interesting that neither Cooz or Larry were present to award the trophies themselves. Max is fine but it's like they tapped him on the shoulder in the third quarter since he was there anyway. I wonder if they had a Heat alumnus ready to make the presentations if Miami won?

Celtics are on a roll. They are big, strong, tough & young. They play ferocious defense with abandon. On offense they have Tatum a budding superstar, Brown an all star in the making & a cast which blends together. And, they are well coached Wow! This team has the ingredients to win. It would not surprise me if they defeat the Warriors and win the championship. If not this year, expect them to win the NBA championship in the near future and possibly many more. We may be witnessing the start of another Celtics dynasty. (Of course there are other NBA teams which may have a lot to say, too.)

It was a great victory, although my stress level was maxing out at points during the game. I think the Celts are still figuring out who they are as a team, but Udoka has done a masterful job of establishing an identity for the team. As he said, defense is their identity, and great defensive teams always have a chance to win.

I fear Robert Williams is going to keep playing and ruin the rest of his career, like Kevin McHale did circa 1987 or 1988. Clearly not right last night. Big part of their team going forward if healthy; should either sit the finals out or be on a very strict number of minutes; no more than a quarter a game.

Celtics expanded.... This young Celtics team may mark a change in the NBA prototype for success - a transition from the free flowing Warriors ballet to a return to the rough & tumble of the '80's/90s'. See Bad Boy Pistons, Riley's roughhouse Knicks. Steph Curry had signaled a change. The Warriors ruled. They were a team of beauty. However, these older Warriors may be a team of the past. How many shooters like Curry are out there? Their style of play may be overtaken by the rush of the talented new Celtics. Much as Curry and the Warriors changed the game, the Celtics may do the same. The young, fresh Celtics with plenty of star power are team oriented with a rough & tough defense. Defense comes first and it is physical and in your face. (Weren't Coach Willard's HC teams similar in philosophy?) And, they have some special stars who can put the ball in the hoop - Tatum, Brown, and host of others. They may very well win this year. If not they are certainly the NBA's team of the future. Basketball is always evolving. It is a beautiful game.
FWIW I far prefer the Warriors basketball ballet. They are a delight. They changed the way the game is played. The Celtics are a return to rough defensive b-ball which can be effective but is not my preference.. Will ll it be Warriors or Celtics in the future?

Incredible fourth quarter burst to pull the game out. GSW looked invincible at times; but when it comes down to it, with the 3 point shot being so prominent; they weren't ahead by all that much.
