They are laying down the field hockey surface today. You can go back in time on the streaming video, move the cursor on the red bar, to see the sequence. The running track does not appear to have been removed yet.

Where has the team been practicing ? Not seen any info on that. I know there are @ Holy Cross games being played at Harvard's field and another field in Boston. Both home games are against opponents from a school other than the one whose field is being played on; i.e., HC is not playing Harvard at the game being played on Harvard's field.

BU doesn't have a field this season at all. They are playing at Harvard and BC all year.

The other two hc games that are being played on a neutral field are at Providence. So perhaps they did some practicing there before classes started, and one could easily schedule practice. From the field hockey Twitter site, the HC head coach looks to be six+ months preggo.

Coach Jackson is expecting. I had a conversation with her in June and she mentioned the impending birth, which I believe now is in the last part of the third trimester. In June, she had some concerns about being able to travel to California last weekend with the team. Based on the twitter pictures it appears that she made the trip.

Could it be that nice fenced-in Worcester Academy field on Vernon Hill or Union Hill?

Could it be that nice fenced-in Worcester Academy field on Vernon Hill or Union Hill? Might be from a map, but that field looks to be more multi-sport. The field is off 14 Marion Ave., and this field doesn't have a red brick building as a backdrop.

I know that isn't BC, Providence and Brown.

Is there a revised ETA for the completion of the track?
While the Field Hockey surface appears to have been completed, the work on the track does not appear to have been started. I was hoping to have seen progress last Saturday.

From video replay of the 10/16 field hockey game, the straight segments of the track are finished and striped. The running lanes are gray in color. The curved segments at both ends are still under construction. I'll guesstimate it will be finished by the end of October

The FH only field and Luth facilities should help HC compete for recruits. Coach Jackson has the team competitive already so things are looking up.

Why in the world would you care enough to ask about another school’s fields for minor sports? UNH, UMass, University of Tulsa, Oregon State—I wouldn’t care if their field hockey fields had active land mines, if their softball fields caught on fire, if their lacrosse fields were infested with black widow spiders. Give it a rest- get another hobby

Haven't they had a field hockey ONLY field since 2009 when Kuzniewski Field was built for Lax/football practice? I'll stipulate to that, as they say on the Court Dramas, but this incarnation looks gleaming new in the photo and has to provide a recruiting edge over schools that share their FH field. Hiring the best coach is the surest formula for winning but everyone tries to do that and it is ultimately rolling the dice no matter how careful the AD is. Fixed amenities like the field and the athletic center are constants that can be controlled. HC has a strong capital budget to build, maintain and update athletic facilities but curiously a less robust salary budget to compete for experienced, successful coaches and often go with cheaper starter head coaches. When you make capital improvements you get something tangible that beautifies your campus no matter how the team performs, making those dollars a little easier to part with I guess.

I'll stipulate to that, as they say on the Court Dramas, but this incarnation looks gleaming new in the photo and has to provide a recruiting edge over schools that share their FH field. there are very few D1 teams in the country where field hockey shares a field in-season. Some may share it with a spring sport, usually women’s lacrosse, but that really should not be an issue at all. And very unlikely to affect recruiting. Also if women’s lacrosse does not share a field with field hockey, then men’s lacrosse and women’s lacrosse in most cases must share a field during the same season – which is significantly worse.

I think the point is less about sharing a field and more about the variety of artificial turf being more suitable for FH because the ball rolls better on a more carpet like surface than on longer simulated grass.
But bison is right about lacrosse teams sharing a field. Who gets the more desirable practice time? What do you do on game days? Those types of disputes have generated Title 9 issues at some schools.
