Heartbreaking. As a father of 3 teenage boys in CT, I have seen numerous examples of anger/rage/machismo among boys creating unfortunate situations. Luckily, none of those has escalated to this point. The rumor here is that this one involved boys from different schools showing up at multiple parties involving kids from other schools where they were not necessarily welcome. Some of the kids are impaired, one thing leads to another, someone pulls out a knife and a kid winds up dead over absolutely nothing. Awful.

...and not as much publicity because there was not a gun involved.

Also, on a sad but true note, in today's society an individual killing isn't that newsworthy no matter what the weapon. This kind of thing is almost a daily occurrence in the city of Chicago

...and not as much publicity because there was not a gun involved. I seen it on several lacrosse instagrams in the last few days....maybe just YOUR news sources aren't talking about it.

Was in Stamford helping Fairfield '00 son move into his new apartment and it was all over the local CT TV news. Very sad story but when someone slaughters 10 people and injures 3 more in a planned racist attack with an assault rifle, it kind of pushes a single murder off the national news.

Race- check .... Guns - check ..... Some type of assault rifle .... check Someone who fell through the cracks, especially from the family.... check.
A lot of ammunition (excuse my pun) for those who want to exploit this type of tragedy for their own gain.

Seems like there’s been a rise in violent crimes over the last year to year-and-a-half. Not just the cities as we see by this lacrosse player example. For those of us who frequent major cities, it is pretty dramatic.

I would expect this kind of tragedy to get local CT. Sadly there are so many other teenagers murdered it's not a national story. I did not hear a peep from the Boston press

The arrested teen is a 16 year old who played football for Saint Joseph’s (Trumbull). The party was at a star football player for Shelton high school. And the unfortunate victim was a football player for Fairfield Prep. Apparently four Saint Joe’s students showed up at the party uninvited and apparently unwelcome. With a huge number of students there, probably mostly impaired by alcohol, it wasn’t a surprise that trouble developed. Sadly it led to a tragedy. A lot of lives will be affected, including the owners of the house where the party took place.

The crisis of irresponsible parenting - a sad epidemic - I hope there is a state law to enforce

I did not hear a peep from the Boston press Just like I'm sure there wasn't a peep from the Darien media about the 11 year old girl who was gunned down in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx earlier this week.

So sad.... But, maybe 'haze could edit the title of the thread so that it does not appear that everyone posting a reply (and now myself included) "murdered" the lax player.... !
