Interesting. Chesney interviewed at Delaware? Sometimes you have to create a little leverage for yourself. Kudos to Chesney for creating it and using it to continue to move the program forward.

We got very lucky that Delaware, UNH and Maine all decided to stick within their own alumni networks in making their head coaching selections this past offseason.

Interesting that the best the Ivies could muster is a "Team to Watch" for the Johnnies.

Very fair and appropriate ranking. Villanova at #8 who we played toe to toe last year and that was with Dobbs out form mid second Q on. We have a balanced schedule that will challenge home and away. Looking forward to hearing some summer camp reports. Hearing several of the 5th years will be out with internships which is understandable but will pose its challenges.

Interesting that the best the Ivies could muster is a "Team to Watch" for the Johnnies. As others have pointed out, our schedule may not grab us much juice for FCS playoff seeding consideration even with a terrific FCS W-L record. CAA places 5 in the top 25 (plus a “Team to Watch”) in this particular ranking.

I'm pumped and jacked but realize that Athlon has never made a tackle or a block. How do people feel Harvard would have fared vs Villanova last year? Based on last year's HC game against the Crimson they shouldn't be ranked so far below us. That's what makes these pre-season rankings so speculative.

Presumably and hopefully some research is done by these rankings and while last season’s results are a good starting point, how many are returning and how do new recruits and transfers improve or detract from the prior season? How about retention and addition of new coaches?
How did teams improve as the season went on or fell apart? How did they do post season?
While I have no idea what the answers to these questions are, how we rank compared to Harvard and Villanova (and URI) would probably be factors.

We might not get the same respect for winning or losing against Harvard as we might against a CAA team, but they play at about the same level year in, year out and our players have the bruises to show for it.

If it’s Buffalo and we run the FCS table, that’s pretty good. If we beat Buffalo and lose an FCS game, the benefit of another FBS win would help offset the FCS loss as long as Buffalo is not UConn/UMass bad. Or, if the PL is much improved, maybe we could get a seed at 9-2 but I wouldn’t count on it.

2009 squad got up to 13 or 14. Can confirm: Final AP and Coaches poll was 14th for the HC 2009 season. Highest in-season rank was 13th after the win against Lafayette. I was there the whole time haha

(Colgate swept a weak PL, swept a ‘meh’ FCS OOC, lost to West Point and they got a first round bye). Given our schedule and team, I see us doing it.
