We will probably have to go 10-1 to get a top 8 seed. It almost doesn’t matter who the 1 is. If it’s Buffalo and we run the FCS table, that’s pretty good. If we beat Buffalo and lose an FCS game, the benefit of another FBS win would help offset the FCS loss as long as Buffalo is not UConn/UMass bad. Or, if the PL is much improved, maybe we could get a seed at 9-2 but I wouldn’t count on it. I’d agree. We’d probably need to pull a 2018 Colgate to have any chance at a seed. (Colgate swept a weak PL, swept a ‘meh’ FCS OOC, lost to West Point and they got a first round bye). Given our schedule and team, I see us doing it. Sweeping Harvard, Yale and Bryant will not be easy by any stretch.

Merrimack won't roll over and play dead either. Hades has no fury like an FBS transfer QB embarrassed the year before.

Interesting that the best the Ivies could muster is a "Team to Watch" for the Johnnies. Interesting that Sacred Heart isn't on the list since HC needed a miracle to beat them...

Our prayers were answered on a Saturday afternoon in November. The Jesuits had more pull that day.....
Having an association with both institutions, my prayers were slanted in one direction only...... and it worked. I’ll take any miracle bestowed.

God blessed us with two great post season games against two other fine Catholic Institutions last year. He had to be fair when dishing out the luck however.

Guess that explains the Merrimack game.
Appears the Augustinians had more pull than the Jesuits last year.
This year will be our turn.... 😊

There are only two Augustinian colleges in the United States and we got beat by both of them last year. God gave the Jesuits the Papacy and feels obligated to be fair to the other orders.

Merrimack won't roll over and play dead either. Hades has no fury like an FBS transfer QB embarrassed the year before. I don't think Zergiotis is as good as the grad transfer they had last year. But what was really startling about the Merrimack game in 2021 was how badly we were pushed around in the trenches. Chesney also owned Merrimack when he was at Assumption -- his last couple games against them were colossal blowouts -- and MU still has the same coach.

Think the team may watch some of the lowlights from last year’s Merrimack loss. The film in the rooms of both lines will have many rewinds.

Who would have thought 5 years ago, that HC would once again crack a top 10 pre season ranking.
Let’s hope the Purple Gang will stay in the top 10 or higher all season long. We all know what the goal is at the end of the season.

Massey 65 Holy Cross 76 Fordham 86 Colgate 91 Lafayette 99 Lehigh 113 Bucknell 114 Georgetown
IMHO: This is based on Massey's stats from last year and his low rank of the PL. His list ranks Merrimack at #119, Sacred Heart at #97 and has Stonehill at #1. It is interesting that he ranks Yale ahead of HC by 2 spots - but makes HC a favorite in our game with them. I included Massey simply as a comparison...his ranks are often wildly different from other lists until after the second game (at least).

As Coach Chesney says, pre-season poll rankings and pre-season league rankings (plus 3 championships) don't mean a lot other than putting a target on the Crusaders' backs. Have to prove it - again - on the field.
If we are a top 10, or top 5 team post-season, that will mean something.

Meanwhile, as many as three PL teams could finish with two or fewer wins this season. Three.
And the league doesn't care.

In fairness to Hoya, I think his comment is meant as broader than GU. Perhaps allow the maximum number of schollies as one thing they could do? Don't recall specific numbers but aren't FCS teams allowed 63 schollies but PL (excluding GU) are limited to 60? Sorry, memory bad and can't blame it on long-haul Covid.

It looks like SHU's best rb Julius Chestnut gave up his final year of eligibility for an undrafted free agent spot with the Titans. However, Lindy's lists Chestnut's backup from last season, Malik Grant as 1st team All-FCS at rb. Maybe there will be a 1st round rematch at Fitton in November.
