What absolutely jumped out at me was the showing of men's basketball. Aside from the obvious, is a message being sent?

Yes, but there was no matching donor as I recall and the sport is fully funded whereas many other sports are operating well below their opponents in funding level. BB has among the lowest number of players to generate alumni also. Golf and tennis would be smaller rosters but I can't think of any others. Volleyball has about the same number as BB.

I strongly suspect if HC said any men’s basketball donation would go toward a fund to buy out BN’s contract, they would have gotten a LOT more money and donors. But, that’s just a guess.

But, that’s just a guess. 1) "A whole bowl of awkward" -A favorite Dan Shaughnessy line. How do you decide on a title for that fund? 2) That fund might take from other sports and from the special football drive currently about half funded. 3) In our salary range isn't a new long term contract to a coach we can afford only a little less of an overall gamble than BN with three years of experience, his players and an expiring contract either at the end of this season or the next?
