BBC Not sure the reasoning is correct.
Let’s be honest the group wants to win, and I am sure the staff and players want it even more. Unfortunately for Nelson this was the wrong opportunity for him and at the wrong time for the program. I am sure he is a good person with a wonderful family, and wants to be a great head coach. Unless this program enjoys a dramatic change this season his hiring was a bad choice by Blossom and a poor choice by Nelson to accept. He inherited a bad situation, made worse by transfers and uncertainty, but it was a choice he accepted. Things have not improved in any meaningful way, and perhaps some of this can be attributed to Covid, the life given to the portal, but more importantly to his inability to win. This truly is not a personal attack on his abilities or a dislike of the man, but a hunger by the community, alumni and fans to have a product we enjoy and are proud to say this is Holy Cross basketball. You will find that in your life the days are long but the years sprint by. Please understand that before my final years I would welcome a return to some level of our past success. So while time might be on your side and most other posters, for a number of us we have a greater sense of urgency. None of us is wrong, we just want a winning basketball program for our wonderful school.Green underline: SOV took a cyptic instagram post by Austin Lewis and just ran with it to assume Lewis was transferring so he could favor up some high-fives on the anti-Nelson pig pile Red underline: I strongly disagree. The roster is significantly more talented and dynamic than it was when he took the job (in addition to building some increasingly important stability into the roster with Dorsey, Octave, Wilbar, and Tse all essentially locked in for multiple years). If Nelson was fired tomorrow, the next coach would be walking into a much, much better roster situation than what Nelson inherited. Note: This alone does not get Nelson off the hook from getting the team to turn things around on the floor this year. Blue underline: I agree!

Watching the Instagram video, posted by Austin L, I’m having a difficult visual adjustment now seeing Mike R, without a beard.
Will he be clean shaven throughout the season, or will he and Austin L, look like the Smith Brothers for the 2022-2023 season?

A three game winning streak puts it back in array. It's only a slight probability but I'm contenting myself now with waiting to see if this group of players and coaches clicks. If not we're on to the next Holy Cross Head Basketball coach.

You took an Instagram post from Lewis, of which you had no clue the actual meaning (or if it was just an 18-19 year-old kid posting meaningless stuff on his social media account that no grown-ups should really be following), and just tossed it out to take a pot shot at Nelson for high-fives from the Hater Gallery.

The only thing most people around here hate is HC losing. We’ve been losing a lot since RW left in 2009. Of the 4 mediocre to bad coaches we’ve had in this dark era of HC hoops, Brett Nelson has the worst record. Not hate. Just a fact. Was he dealt a tough hand on a number of fronts? Yes. Does that justify the abysmal W-L record to date? No. I think we all agree that Nelson has to produce this year or he’s gone. As usual, I’ll be at the games that don’t conflict with my kids’ games/practices and rooting for the team to win.

As I recall Lewis' post (which is now private) was quote innocuous. There was a comment from RJ Johnson saying things were toxic. Posting something like that might be hating, but it also might be interesting and relevant information to an objective fan that a member of the 2021-22 squad is tossing that word around when talking about the program. At least I'm glad I was made aware of RJ's comment I think I am not alone in finding RJ's comment on the post concerning, but that it's hard to assign a hard and fast meaning without context. Being concerned does not make me a Coach Nelson hater. However, I need a lot more wins before I could say I'm in love with the guy either

Just highlighting how it's borderline creepy for adults to be interacting with teenagers on their personal social media pagers. I'm glad Austin made his profile private so people don't continue to dig around there.

Don’t think it’s creepy. But it does create the potential for misunderstanding as young people talk to each other in a language that is not always readily understandable to those of us from a different time.

I'm not panicking about statements I know that are out of context I don't follow on twitter or instagram. Not my thing. However, if people were concerned about things being creepy, I don't think the HC basketball website would have links to the players individual social media accounts. Excluding the thinly veiled payouts from the big schools, kids that are getting NIL endorsements are based on social media followers. If Lewis (or anyone else) gets some free stuff by having the season ticket base pump up his following, that might just be a good thing

Coach Nelson’s thoughts on the upcoming season: Nelson going with the beard look.... maybe hoping his critics will not recognize him and assume we have a new coach to pin blame on....

Or, just hoping he can go unrecognized in the Hart Center when alums are there who want to share a group photo with him?😂

To try to steer the focus to the team itself....how about some commentary or thoughts/expectations on the individual players (without discussion involving the newly bearded guy in the lead seat). Who of the returnees can be expected to take the biggest step forward? How about some lineup discussions? What newcomer are you most interested in?
For me, I am very interested in seeing Wilbar. I'm wondering if he can be a Husek type of contributor. I'm also hoping his presence away from the hoop will open up things more for GG. Other thoughts?

It probably is irrelevant, but the four players pictured on the schedule release yesterday were: Montgomery, Dorsey, Kenney and Gates. Those four are assumed to be in the rotation. The rest ? Well, Tse is the only experienced point, so his spot seems to be logical. others ?

The last three are assumed to be in the rotation, and Tse is the only experienced true point guard, so his role in the rotation also seems logical. The rest ? /photo/1 I think that's Montgomery, not Tse.
