They may have chosen to put four returning players that fans would recognize in the photo.

It probably is irrelevant, but the four players pictured on the schedule release yesterday were: Tse(I think, but with number 0 instead of the 25 on the team roster), Dorsey, Kenney and Gates. The last three are assumed to be in the rotation, and Tse is the only experienced true point guard, so his role in the rotation also seems logical. The rest ? /photo/1 I think that's Montgomery, not Tse. They just went with the most photogenic.

Steering the team discussion here in case we get new 2023 recruiting news.
Octave news makes sense, given his prior experience. I think if you can have 3 of the top 12 or so players in the league you should be able to compete with most. Really hoping that Bo is the third guy.
Regarding the bigs, I don't care if one guy emerges, or its a 3-4 man rotation, but the production at the 5 has to increase. 7 points/5 rebounds a game isn't going to do it.
Then there is the point. My hope was/is that Tse becomes a game manager sort; more assists than turnovers, play aggressive D, hit a shot once in a while. Hope the narrative changes on him, for 2 reasons: 1) I'd rather see Bo play exclusively off the ball, and 2) I'd rather not see Batch thrown to the wolves if possible. I was thinking instant sneaky offense off the bench.
Then - what do you do with the Swiss Army knife, aka Caleb Kenney?
Appreciate the reports guys!

I thought the Swiss Army knife was the nick name for Clayton...
We have to find a different nom de plume for Caleb. Hopefully he will be Mr. Fixit. Comes into the game at a critical juncture and fix the problem on the court.

That's right, Crucis, I forgot - Caleb definitely needs his own nickname.

Minutes projections for league play below as I suspect we’ll try some different things in the OOC. Completely meaningless but a semi-fun exercise to pass the time between Judge at-bats (or plate appearances if the Sawx continue to walk him on 4 pitches every time up).
Gates 34 Montgomery 32 Octave 30 Batchelder 28 Kenney 28 Dorsey 20 Louth 10 Tse 10 Rabs 4 Lewis 4 Wilbar 0 Kirkwood 0

Always an interesting and productive exercise. Batchelder at 28 is very interesting-if he is ready to contribute it will be a huge boost to the team in my opinion. Wilbar at 0 would be most distressing. I’m also wondering if Austin Lewis will get a real chance to show what he can do-and not just against the D 3 squads

Would be good if Wilbar is productive. Just feel like most teams have a steady rotation of 8 and I’m not sure he’s in the top 8.

Also hoping-as no doubt all us are- that Rabs is healthy all year and improved his talents with his Maccabiah practices and games

Louth could establish himself this year. Yes, Gates, Kenney and Louth are a pretty good three-headed monster in the front court.

Gates at the 5 with Kenney the 4 might be OK on offense, but would be undersized vs many teams with better sized bigs. Agree with the most minutes for Gates, Octave, Bo and Batch.

We’re definitely not going to have a perfect lineup. It’s a matter of which imperfect lineup gives us the best chance to win on a given night. Rabs and/or Wilbar and/or Lewis could hopefully help when the other team’s size is killing us. We could be the only PL team with three 6’10” scholarship guys riding the pine.

as i said, that assessment could be wrong-- and I got it second hand so I will delete it if that is appropriate
Ky I deleted the post so if you delete, my secondhand information will be removed and we can wait until we have something firsthand-- upon reflection it was unfair to the player to post the information
My apologies

Looked at Wilbar’s stats from last season at Indiana State to see what the range of reasonable expectations might be. I took his best 10 game stretch from the middle of the season and compared it to his final 10 games where his playing time had decreased. Definitely not perfect to predict what he might do with a new coach and system plus a year of physical development but it’s the best I could do while we wait for actual games, which will obviously tell us a lot more.
