Doubt it. Stanford is playing Bryant at a neutral site. In Providence.

FWIW, Stanford was ranked 41st nationally by Massey last fall while HC was ranked 70th.

Credit to Bryant for offering the sport now and creating an on campus regulation field later.

Doubt that - have we ever beaten Stanford at anything ? I only remember HC facing Stanford on three occasions. On December 19, 1989, WBB at the Hart Center which HC lost 88-65. The second occasion was Women’s Field Hockey, in the NCAA Play In Tournament game, on November 7, 2000 at Hart Turf . HC lost 1-0. The third game against Stanford was also at Hart turf, with a 2-1 HC victory, on October 6, 2008.

Doubt they go down to UC-Davis.

What appeared to this untrained observer like a bad turnover in our own end to give up the easy goal when a Cardinal was able to walk in on goal.

HC 1 Stanford 1 going to OT Wow. It's a good result to get it to OT, but not a shocker. Unlike most sports, Stanford is only OK in field hockey. Last year they were ranked behind American, Bucknell, and Lafayette for example.

Does Stanford give the maximum athletic scholarships for FH?

Cal Davis next tmro - today's score would indicate improvement over last season and maybe a better shot in the PL (given the preseason ranking here)
2022 Patriot League Field Hockey Preseason Poll 1. American (9 first-place votes), 69 points 2. Lafayette (5), 65 3. Bucknell, 44 4. Lehigh, 42 5. Boston University, 40 T6. Colgate, 17 T6. Holy Cross, 17

Stanford's two goals were scored by players from England. I expect Stanford is close to or at the NCAA cap for scollies for field hockey.

Stanford tried to eliminate FH but there was an amazing fund raising effort by Alumni to keep the game last year and they saved it. However ,they lost many recruits in the process and players. Many Div 1 schools are trying to make the trip to support the effort. Interesting side bar last year, they used a field player in goal because they had no GK. It was a dumb effort by Stanford for a California school to lose a female program ( 100 years of FH in the United States and this year being 50 years of title IX)
