On a more pedestrian note, I've met four alums just in my CT neighborhood (two lawyers, a doctor, and a teacher). Brought to mind I found out when pushing the baby stroller through our neighborhood that one of my fellow managers lived a half mile away from me. Had no clue he lived in the same town, hadn't seen him in 30 years.

I was in court recently and opposing counsel was not only an HC alum but a classmate of mine (although we somehow didn't know each other at the time). We got to talking and he told me he didn't feel a strong connection to HC. I was taken aback because I couldn't recall another time I ran into an alum who felt that way. It made me feel grateful for the lifelong appreciation for HC that we share on Crossports

Did you let him know about Crossports? Some years back, I felt almost totally disconnected from HC. The college was seldom in the press or broadcast news in the NY area. Finding Crossports was a huge boost in reconnecting with the Cross.

Beverly Hills, La Jolla, Marin County, Paris, New City, Key West, Florence, Italy (not South Carolina), Naples Florida (not Italy), Greenwich Village, Barbados, and Mt. St. James & in the Montvale Wegman's parking lot to name a few places that come to mind.

Finding Crossports was a huge boost in reconnecting with the Cross. I wish I had thought of this. If/when I see him again I'll definitely mention it.

Churchill Downs on Oaks or Derby Day many years ago--found out that the group of guys sitting behind me were HC alums a few years older than I.

Not was exotic as yours, but when I donated blood yesterday a young woman who was volunteering was wearing an HC shirt. She just graduated from UConn Law School.

In my experience from Greenwich Village to Beverly Hills the paths of HC alums are varied. For, instance we were having lunch in Riverdale. A big guy with an HC shirt was passing by our table. I gave him a shout out. We talked and almost immediately he started complaining bitterly about Coach Carmody. He was pissed as were many of us. In his case he started to get louder as his intensity increased. We were in a restaurant. I spoke softly in an indirect attempt to lower the heat. It worked. In the end we hugged(prior to covid , of course). The guy was a true loyal Crusader. Loved it.

Never met him, but from what I can gather, newfieguy's office was about 10 houses down from where I lived for 8 or 9 years. And, speaking of HC connections, in a 12 unit condo, there was I, Joe Mulligan's daughter (the HC pitcher from the 30s who played for the Red Sox) and the mom/grandmother of 2 Millett boys that played football at HC (the older one in the Duffner years, not the guy from the 50s or 60s).

Was at a Stop & Shop on Cape Cod yesterday. I was wearing sn HC shirt. Felt s tap on my shoulder as someone was saying Class of ‘85. I said ‘75. He was from Hilton Head escaping the heat by coming north for a month. Had an enjoyable conversation realizing we knew HC people in common. Thanked him for approaching me. He said you know that’s how it’s done.

Walking the Main Street of Pitlochry, in the Highlands of Scotland, yesterday, a man commented on my HC hat. He and his wife from Lowell, MA said that they are the parents of two former HC athletes, 2008 baseball co-captain, Brendan Akashian and his brother, Brian, 2001: who played and assistant coached hockey for Paul Pearl.

This was while I was still a student at HC so I didn't fully understand that Holy Cross folks would just walk up to eachother, but summer before second year I was wearing my HC hoodie in Cologne, Germany for a Rhine River cruise. At one of the stops had this woman come up to me and introduced herself as "Class of '92". Had a nice conversation at that time, but was surprised more than anything at the time. I get it now and I'm usually the one on the starting end.

Not exactly meeting an HC grad, but on our tour in Scotland, one of the fellow tourists families was from Puerto Rico, and yes, they knew the Vicens family of Ponce.

Met an alum on the sidelines at the kids’ flag football games on Sunday. I was obviously still all pumped up from the Buffalo win. Guy was completely unaware. His class? 1970. You heard me.
