From the T&G, some things the WooSox are doing:
“PawSox are back
The WooSox honor their Pawtucket and Rhode Island heritage July 9, when players don their actual PawSox jerseys & caps.”

Screw Lucchino and the Woosox. They dishonor Pawtucket and Rhode Island and are dead to its residents.
The longest game in baseball history, of which I attended its resumption, happened in Pawtucket. The AAA pitching match-up between two former Rookies of the Year (Mark Fidrych and Dave Righetti) happened in Pawtucket. Pawtucket will always have these and many other memories. They can never be taken away.

They'd be better off with Framingham or Fitchburg Day to draw new fans. Not that the PawSox don't deserve memorializing, but perhaps in a small museum or something in Pawtucket and/or on wall space inside Polar Park.

It's up to Providence. If they commit themselves to even half what Worcester is on the hook for, they would have a shot at A or AA. The precedent has been set and construction costs are so high, I think it will take City or State leaders and local taxpayers who are all looking to attain or maintain the status a pro franchise provides, to finance a new stadium today.
The video tour of NEC stadiums and the rebuilding of Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on the existing footprint are examples of efficient facilities.
Compare the eminent domain taking of many properties, demolition, site cleanup and preparation, road closures and re-routing, etc., that Worcester will be paying for until mid century and what it took to take down wooden stands and build three thousand new seats at Fitton.
The best location for a new minor league stadium may be an existing field with a little room for expansion. Whether it's a vacation home or a sports stadium, waterfront always costs more and often includes environmental regulations that makes new construction more complex.
But I like your thinking to keep the Red Sox affiliates in New England.

I am enamored with the thought of cities & towns across our beautiful land having local professional teams. It is as American as apple strudel. My hope is that the people of Providence will have the opportunity to cheer for their local heroes. Big Apple resident with small town roots. God, I love America. Happy 4th. OK, I'm a cornball.

I totally understand your sentiment and that's why places like Ohio State, Alabama, UCLA, Duke, Georgia, etc. bring professional sports to their towns and cities.

Hearing some strong rumors the Providence Bruins are moving to Worcester. That would be an interesting choice since Providence Bruins were eighth in the AHL for attendance this past season. In 19-20, they were fourth. We all know how bad AHL has been in Worcester

Wormtown was just busting rf1s balls.
The logical choice to throw out the first ball would be 92 year old Joe "Six Two And Even" Morgan.

Mark "The Bird" Fydrich's widow and daughter could be honored guests. As a former Snow Plow Driver on the Mass Pike Joe Morgan admired how Mark made a good business from renting out his truck and himself as driver. Rich Gedman could catch the ball. If he stood right in front of Joe.🙂 Yaz threw a weak dribbler in his 70s.

Actually, Geddie played in that 33 inning game as well. Got yanked early (9 innings or so) in favor of the legendary Roger LaFrancois*. The poor starting catcher for Rochester caught the first 31!
* Has to be a record of some kind for a non-pitcher. He was on the 1982 Red Sox the entire year, his only year in the majors; all 162 games; and batted 10 times. Got 4 hits, so a career 400 hitter!

Roger played at D-3 powerhouse Eastern CT. State University as well as two seasons in the Cape Cod League. He served as Batting coach for the Worcester Tornadoes. Gedman was the first manager of the Tornadoes and brought a championship to Worcester in their first season.

He was on the 1982 Red Sox the entire year, his only year in the majors; all 162 games; and batted 10 times. Got 4 hits, so a career 400 hitter! Even more amazing is John Paciorek. Many baseball fans will remember Tom Paciorek who played 18 years with the Dodgers, Braves, Mariners, and other teams in the 70's & 80's. He had a brother Jim who played a year for the Brewers. Older brother John got into only one MLB game, at age 18, and went 3 for 3, scoring 3 runs and getting 4 RBI.. See his story below John Paciorek holds the major league record with a career 1.000 batting average and three hits. He debuted in 1963 with the Houston Colt .45s in the final game of the season against the New York Mets on September 29th. He went 3 for 3, walked twice, and scored four runs.
John had suffered a back injury in the minors that year, hitting just .219 with 9 homers with the Modesto Colts of the California League and was actually in Houston to have his back checked out. But as he was a bonus baby already on the 40-man roster, the Colts decided to give him a look in a meaningless game (the two teams finished 9th and 10th in the National League that season. He was just 18 at the time and seemed to have a bright future ahead of him, but the injury got worse over the winter and even though he was penciled in as Houston's starting center fielder in spring training in 1964, the back pain was so bad he couldn't bend over. He was sent to the minors, where he struggled badly and had to undergo spinal fusion surgery, which put him out of action for all of 1965. By the time he recovered, the back problems had led to chronic arm problems and pulled hamstrings, and he never regained his batting stroke. John Paciorek retired in 1969 with one career game, but what a game it was.
He became a physical education teacher in San Gabriel, CA. He is the brother of major leaguers Tom Paciorek and Jim Paciorek and minor leaguer Mike Paciorek, the uncle of Tom Paciorek Jr. and Joseph Paciorek, and the father of Pete Paciorek and Mack Paciorek.
Through 2010, 88 players had a career batting average of 1.000: 77 were 1 for 1, 9 were 2 for 2, and Paciorek was the only one to go 3 for 3.
Paciorek was signed for the Colt .45s by scout Walt Laskowski and assistant GM Eddie Robinson for a reported $100,000 bonus and a college scholarship.

Moving the A ball teams up here would never work. People complaining about Polar Park and it's affect on Worcester either are just miserable people or haven't been to Worcester in a few years. Go to a game. It's a great take and a lot of fun.

Future Hall of Famers Wade Boggs and Cal Ripkin played in the 33 inning longest game at McCoy. Other notable players included Marty Barrett, Rich Gedman, Bruce Hurst, and Bob Ojeda, The records and memories that happened in Pawtucket belong to RI as it is the one and only home to them. Worcester must create their own.
There were 19 fans left in the McCoy stands when the longest game was suspended 8 hours in at 4:07am after the 32nd inning was completed in April-1981. Team owner Ben Mondor later gave them lifetime free passes to all future home games. The game was resumed in late June and I was there in attendance. The novelty of it being the longest game in history along with it being during an MLB strike work stoppage brought huge interest. Media (some 140 press credentials) from around the nation and world descended on Pawtucket. The press box was far too small and an entire section had to be converted just for media members. The resumption lasted just one inning as Dave Koza got a hit to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the 33rd. After a break, the two teams then played a regularly scheduled game.

Go to a game. It's a great take and a lot of fun. I've been and it was fun. I just doubt Providence is going to pay for a waterfront stadium. RI was burnt by Curt Schilling's 38 Studios and lost $75 million and the desire to publicly fund privately owned baseball weakened. At least Worcester got a stadium and some urban renewal for it's money. And HC FB got a downtown venue...until the novelty wears off.

Worcester lost the AHL Sharks due reportedly to the trend of moving minor league teams closer to the parent club. Single A doesn't have the same dynamic as few are called up or sent down directly from Boston.
With Lowell and Providence having ready access to Red Sox major and minor league viewing options, Greenville is a fine choice if they are supporting the team.
Nice to have many Red Sox options in New England but the region could conceivably become over saturated.
I assume the Providence waterfront has been examined as a possible home for the New England Revolution professional soccer team still playing at Gillette Stadium despite years of searching for their own soccer stadium.
Dan Shaughnessy famously predicted "Brookline Bobby" Kraft would never move the Patriots to "Yahooville" (Hartford) when the deal was all but signed, sealed and delivered but Providence is a lot closer and usually is the official host city when the Pats host the AFC Championship game.
Kraft has always wanted a soccer specific urban stadium in Boston that fans can take public transportation to, but after 15 years of trying for that he could possibly be swayed by a sweetheart deal from the Ocean State that would make Providence a major league city and leapfrog it over triple A Worcester.

The New England Revolution are averaging 18,604. But MLS only has 17 regular season home games so it's a big commitment for occasional usage.
