I know some here don’t like UConn or Geno or both. But, I have always felt like the young women they bring in are generally good humans, good role models and represent their school well. Today, my daughter was at a basketball camp in the hinterlands of CT, roughly an hour from Storrs. Lo and behold, Paige Bueckers and Caroline Ducharme (from Milton, MA) rolled up as a surprise and spent about 90 minutes with a group of random 10-14 year olds. They handed out the camp awards, posed for as many pictures as anyone wanted, signed everything in sight and made an effort to connect with as many of the girls as they could on a personal level. Rising sophomore Amari DeBerry was there all week as one of the counselors as well and was great with the girls. As my daughter approaches the danger years, I’m happy she has heroes who set a good example and are famous for something other than making Tik Tok videos. I know most here don’t care but maybe a few will be interested.

Geno has always been a classier guy than Calhoun in my book. While that might be a low bar to hop over, I think UConn women basketball is a program that is worth emulating and your post reinforces that.
I wonder how much longer Geno will go before retiring?
Good luck to your daughter’s basketball career.🤞🍀

Paige Beuckers (sp?) tore her left knee acl in practice Monday and is out for the season - as a Ct citizen that enjoys watching the UConn team this is really a blow to all of womens basketball

One year later and UConn players again showed up at my daughter’s camp today. Very nice of them to do it and make my daughter’s day. Paige was out of town so Ice Brady took her place this year. She missed all of last season with an injury but is expected to be a significant frontcourt contributor this year.

I’m guessing that such appearances include compensation for the players under their NIL deals

That one might not have been but they do have NIL appearance fees listed on the UConn NIL site. Here is an example opendorse.com/profile/amari-deberry?from=uconn-huskies

No sane person in the world is paying Amari DeBerry $75+ for an autograph. Mine is just as valuable.

I don’t care whether kids on college teams will charge for autographs if someone will pay them. My kids will get their autographs the old fashioned way by hanging around after games.

Bump- Azzi Fudd done, torn ACL. Huskies have had their share of bad luck the last couple seasons.

Could Geno be overworking them ? No! there is a lot of research being done into the reasons that female athletes "seem" to have more knee injuries than their male counterparts...No real answers as of yet..

Broader hips create more torque or pressure on the knees is the "anatomy for dummies" concept I remember from some time ago on this topic.

UConn can’t catch a break. Azzi done for the season after 2 games. Jana El Alfy, a big from Greece who joined the team second semester last year but didn’t play, suffered a season-ending injury playing internationally this past summer. It sounds like they were planning on her being a significant contributor in the frontcourt this year. Their other big off the bench, Ayanna Patterson, is yet to play this year but is expected back relatively soon. Caroline Ducharme was great as a Frosh but is a shadow of her former self after suffering a concussion last year and seeming very uncertain and cautious ever since.

Also, after 3 years at UConn together, Paige and Azzi will have both been on the court for a total of 17 games, usually when one or both were working their way back from an injury and not at 100%.

In other news, I just sold two tickets in the second level to the UConn-ND women’s game on 1/27 at Gampel for $157 each on SeatGeek. That seems crazy to me. It helps that another guy in my row has his listed for $280. After SeatGeek takes their share, I only get $117 but that still seems like too much.
